I've got a site that it seems Google will not give me credit for links to it. At least not when I do link:www.domian.com or .domain.com both return the same, four links. The site is a couple of years old and has a PR of 1 in Google but a Moz Page rank of 4.5 Should I give a hoot about what I see when I use link: is it updates as often as Google's PR ranks are now or is it updated more often? I've certainly never done anything that I would think would be considered spam. I never used any automated method to post comment links. I have done some manually, oh what fun. They don't even give me credit for my Ezine articles. The site ranks well, it is number 2 for my main keyword and has site links for a crappy keyword. LOL Googlebot lives on my site. It doesn't seem Google is mad at me and handed me their smack down at all. I just don't understand the lousy four likes. One comes from a PR3 site maybe that will help me get to a 2. I know the Google PR number doesn't matter much any more, I'm more concerned about the four links they give me credit for. Perhaps I should discount that too. There are about 5000 links to the site, last I checked YSE showed about 1500 but that's not a complete listing and they say so. Think I'll stop by linkdiagnoses now and see what they show. Thanks for the help.
Google claims to only show a portion of the links. Nobody uses the link: command in google because it's so useless. The best way to see your links is with Yahoo site explorer and MajesticSEO in my experience. I use Market Samurai which shows both.
Agree with afterhim, the Google link: command is useless now. Google has a better account for links to your site if you use its Webmaster Tools, but even then it doesn't show as many as Yahoo Site Explorer. Besides Yahoo Pipes, that's the only other thing Yahoo has created that I think is good. Everything else I use Google for.
You can also use your Google Webmaster account to see if your site has any issues that may be preventing you from gaining rank.
its shows only high pr approved site but other links are also imp, will u check that only put domain name in search engine.
It does matter how old is the domain. But more importantly, you need to have quality website development done that is Google friendly. If that job is done well, keep flowing, spreading your links over the internet on various high PR sites. I guess that will help your backlinks grow.
download a toolbar called seoquake and do a search for your site. it will show the number of links to your site. and just a tip, make sure that all your links are found by the search engines
link: results seem to pull up more bad websites IMO. If you do a link: and some really spammy sites come up, I would get rid of the links.
