Very important, expecially to show them to search engines via webmaster tools, you made a new friend called "spider"
If sitemaps does indeed make it faster for search engines to crawl pages: faster crawling means faster indexing, which would at least means faster listing .. then for all possible intent every website should have a sitemap.
hi all, I dont know much about sitemaps and have a question. I read a lot of different stories about sitemaps and sitemap generating software etc.. i want to make sure I understand the right thing. I went to an online sitemap generator and generated a sitemap for my small site. I added the xml file to my site and liked to it from one page. Is that it? Or are there other things I should do? should I submit it? where? why? Thanks in advance for the help!
my experience is that they help. Use webmaster tools and look for broken links once you have submitted a sitemap successfully.
Sitemap is not that important at all, if you are already indexed and ranked. It may speed up the process of initial indexing, though. It may also come in handy when you think you have pages on your site that the search engine is not reaching at all.
