How important Alexa ranking for website?

compete traffic is very similar to Alexa, but I dont trust most of they ratings anyway.

 

If Alexa wasn't important, Google wouldn't be #1. If you have a crappy site and don't ever want to sell advertising then Alexa isn't important but if you want to make money from high dollar advertisers then Alexa is very important.

 

For the ranking in the search engine it's not important, google is not really interested in Alexa, I tested it with one of my sites, it had an alexa rank over 2000k took it down to 400k with www.artmeo.com traffic exchange, because it has a direct traffic exchange. The site wasn't at all ranked better. But if you want to sell ads or links it's very important.

 

depends on how your using alexa. for the most part alexa is fairly accurate and can give you a decent idea on how well a site's traffic is doing.

Alexa doesn't influence your site. It just represents how much traffic your website has, how much popular it is. It represents the stats of your site and shows which place you site has among the others. That's all.

 

I think it is not important to website but it is important to owner of website for checking the rank i.e. to check the visitors.

 

It doesn't even represent that!... It has NO representation to how your site does at all...

 

Does Alexa ranking directly correlate with page rank assigned by Google ? If yes, is there proof of this? If no, is there proof as well?

Once again, bad advice.. It doesn't do anything of the sort.. It JUST counts stats from those who have the ALEXA toolbar, and let's face it... probably about 3% of the world's population have it...

 

Thanks for the break down, I was wondering the same thing. In a lot of the SEO plugins and tools that you see out there, Alexa is mentioned or referenced all the time, so it's easy to see why someone would think it's important. Knowing that it's mostly self-referential, like Alexa ranks are important for Alexa and not for other places, is good to know.

So all these people using those paid programs that promote "who is" submissions to trick Alexa, does this work and how would that help at all? Is there a direct correlation between Alexa and SERP? Also this may be a dumb question but is Alexa like a monopoly now, is there any other ranking system people look to? I don't even remember hearing the name Alexa a few years back. I must be living in a bubble.

 

Ok.. I'll say this one more time... FORGET ALEXA.. they have as much to do with ranking websites as ebay does... ;-)

 

Increased traffic leads to improvement in Alexa Ranking, so in that sense you at least get to know that your traffic is improving!

 

Page Rank is more important than Alexa Rank .The most important is to get more and more visitors to earn more .

 

Few persons says it is important and some says that it is not important. Why their is opposite opinions? Can search engine tells us true facts about this.
