I was thinking about modding mine, but I don't want to get into trouble. I also heard that modded xboxes don't work with Xbox live... anyone know the deal? Is that true. I saw some directions on www.modxbox360.com but I'm afraid I will mess it up an make it unplayable... or go to jail.
Exactly, my friend modded his xbox 360 as well as Wii, no one will find out, just dont tell people who you think will ring the cops lol
the only problem you might run into is if you play xbox live online (they might close/block your online account) other than that, go for it if you want to. -dan
Modding it isn't illeagle in any way. Downloading the games on the other hand is. You can do whatever you want to anything you own. But when you start to break copywrite laws thats where you get into trouble.
I agree with others, it is not illegal to modify the system. It is illegal to download the games without paying for them. The chances are slim of getting caught but it could happen when downloading the games. The other problem is that you better know what you are doing or you will have an expensive piece of junk.
Im pretty sure modding isn't illegal. This has been floating around for a while, some one chronicled turning there Xbox a laptop. http://benheck.com/Games/Xbox360/x360_page_1.htm
Glad someone plugged ben's site, its a really great independent gaming site, and the podcast is simply awsome. Moddding your xbox, Its simply not illegal whereas downloading and burning games you don't already own is, With the current Dvd-firmware flashing mod you'll be banned from xbox live but you'll still be able to play single player titles and modes. I personally wouldnt do it because it seems like a lot more effort than heading over to ebay and picking up some cheap imports.
I have a modded xbox, but it has nothing illegal on it. It's not illegal to mod, but to download what you put on the modded xbox - Mark
