First is concentrate on your keywords. Make sure that you are targeting the right keywords. Based on experience I focus on the relevancy of the site rather than the volume of searches or visits and it did good on the site I'm working right now. I was targeting 15 keywords and I made the first major keyword appear in yahoo and google in just 2 weeks. And right now I was on the 3rd month.. I was able to make the 8 keywords appeared in Google.. Next is make a good title and description for your site in which your keywords included. Make your target keyword in the first word in your description. For instance your keywords are: TV Shows, TV Series, TV Shows and Movies Title: TV Shows and Movies Description: TV Shows of one of a kind.. etc..
