Blog Comments Are A Great Source of Targeted Traffic For the entire article and more marketing, business, blogging, and advertising articles, go to my blog! What Are Blog Comments Exactly In terms of getting traffic for your website, a blog comment is a response to a blog post on a website with a similar niche as yours that contains a link back to your website. Click Here For A Stronger Definition of Blog Comments Where to Post Blog Comments From a quality and targeted stand point, try to select a few powerful/interesting blogs in your niche. I try to go against posting on blogs that don't relate, simply from a branding standpoint. I want my website to become a valuable asset to the community of my niche. Example My Nintendo Wii Social Network, Wiitube. Whenever I decide I want some additional traffic I go onto Video game related blogs and make some quality comments. I focus upon 3 major video game blogs: Joystiq (where I only post comments on Nintendo Wii related blog posts), Nintendo Wii Fanboy, and GoNintendo. All three of these blogs are well respected and maintain a larger readership. When to Post Blog Comments The timing of a blog comment is extremely important to the overall effect of this marketing method. You should aim to get your blog comment to be the first, second, or third comment on a blog post every time. If a blog post has 50 comments, and your comment is the first one, it will be read more often than the 37th comment. Readers often read the first few comments and then lose interest. If a story already has 10 comments, do not waste your time posting a response, patience is key. How to Post Blog Comments I have found that most effective way to drive targeted traffic to your website using blog comments is what I would label the "Quality Then Signature Method" aka QTSM. How the QTSM Works The first part of the QTSM method is to write a quality blog comment. Find a blog post that is interesting and add something to the conversation. If the blog post is a current event, add your personal reaction to said event. If the blog post is about a product, add your personal experience with said product. If the blog post is a question to the readers, answer the question the best you can. The better your response, the better this method will work. When you are done commenting, add a signature to the end of your blog comment. The first line should be your real name. The next link should be your "title" in correlation with the link you are promoting, IE: examples include - owner, CEO, or head blogger. The next link should be a link to your website's homepage. The last line, should be a link to a blog post or product that is most relevant to the blog post accompanied by a short commentary on why this link is relevant to the reader. Example of my QTSM Signature Here is the blog comment I left on GoNintendo's story about a particular Nintendo Wii game "NiGHTS: Jourey of Dreams." AJ Vaynerchuk Owner: Wiitube http://www.wiitube.com Check out Wiitube Coverage on NiGHTS - http://www.wiitube.com/games/NiGHTS_Journey_of_Dreams Try Not to Abuse Blog Comments Blog comments are an excellent way to send traffic to your website or blog, but like anything else, there can be too much of a good thing. Remember that blog comments not only send your site traffic, but also draw the attention of the blog owner. If you continually post quality comments on a blog, the owner of that blog will recognize you as an asset to his community. You may even develop a relationship with the blogger and work together in the future (such as link exchanges or blog posts). If you post a blog comment on every article, every day, with little to no content the blog owner might feel as if you are a spammer and of course that would be disastrous. The blog owner might even block your website URL and prevent you from sending traffic and finding new readers/customers. My Personal Success With Blog Comments Whenever I apply the QTSM method and post comments on the three blogs I mentioned above, I have experienced tremendous success. On average, I send Wiitube roughly 100 unique visitors in one day from a mere three blog comments (one comment on each of the three blogs). Doing this every other day sent me just under 2,000 uniques in one month.
Also an exceptional way to do marketing online while maximizing your budget is engaging in cross promotional advertising. When looking for those products to cross promote with you will want to look for those that will compliment your product, for example if you sell printers you will want to cross promote with a company that sells printer ink, paper, etc. And this is because you will not be competing against another company you will be enhancing both of your products at no cost for advertising. This will provide convenience for your customer because they will have all they need on your website. _________________________ Bre D. www.csgserver.com
