Integrating adsense ads into a website this way damages the repute of a website. The user's will be annoyed by advertisements that are harder to identify and distinguish from real content

Very well share Mike...BTW I need to ask one thing ? I have placed a 728*90 banner beside my header on the site, the background of the header is dark blue...If I make the background of the adsense ad blue, won't the site look ugly ??

URL of my site is in Signature "Tech Crates"

Image ads usually works for certain niche, like technology and celebrities, for others image ads really cuts down your available ads therefore less option for visitor to click.

Having said that only testing can rellay shows what work

Hey gjvan, putting the ads beneath the title is not against google TOS. I have seen a lot of sites do this and their ads are still there after a long period of time. Google makes their ads obvious by putting "Ads by Google".

Same answer to the question above. The fact that the visitor clicks on the ad is an expression of their interest in whatever that ad has to offer. You are not trying to trick them. When they click on the adlink because they want more information about it.

This doesn't damage the repute of the website. A user will know it's ad because of the link. It's not that they are clicking it by accident, they are clicking it because they are interested in it. This will all depend on your website design. Of course if you designed a very ugly website that is only made for adsense then the user will be annoyed.

Well to tell you the truth it does look ugly but hey if you get a better ctr then who cares right? Just continue to experiment until you get better results with your CTR.

I agree with this one. Good thing I don't use technology and celebrities niche. I'm just used to text ads. I don't have much experience with image ads but if it will work for your site then continue with it. Continue to use what works with your site.

Yeah right ... but I don't want to experiment on that section, coz I am afraid I'll lose my loyal readers due to ugly looking site...

    Readers are everything

I'm not saying that you should really make your site ugly. If you are worried that you will lose readers because of that adsense ad, then maybe you could find a better placement for it. Most of the time the readers are there to READ not make fun of adsense ad on the top. If you have a great content I don't think you will lose readers. Remember Content is the King or Queen or whichever quote is better. :)

Many people suggest ads to be blended into the site, so that visitors might click them by thinking they are part of the site.
But I prefer ads to have strong contrast color and stand out. That way visitors will see them right away.
    Just my personal opinion =)

    Nice post by the way.
