The problem with keywords is that there's more searches coming from affiliates, thus clicking your ads to check the competition. The cost per click is also very high so I don't see a guaranteed profit and it still needs testing on individual products until you make the campaign profitable. I've seen a product that in fact sells pretty well in the IM niche, the guy's using some popular names of IM products in clickbank to advertise his own. And not only but names of top marketers and so on.. Here's an ad .. Ewen Chia Have You Tried Cash1234 Yet? Make $4000/Week. No Sales, No Ads www.The-Cash1234-System.com Mo Latif Have You Tried Cash1234 Yet? Make $4000/Week. No Sales, No Ads www.The-Cash1234-System.com The guy's been doing this for over a year now, hence he has profitable campaigns .. Al.
Yeah, a simple "Hey folks, I found something interesting I would like to share with you all" would have saved a heck of a lot of posting.
Am I missing something? Every account I have prohibits the use of brand names in ad units or as keywords, and have had ad units declined for doing so as well. Just got an email telling me so for Windows 7 as a matter of fact. Adwords didn't accept anything related to that term in the ads, for whatever reason.
Most large companies like Microsoft have asked Google to not show ads with their trademarks in the ad itself. You can bid on those keywords. You have to ask Microsoft for an exemption and submit that exemption to Google. For example, you have a store selling Windows and would like to advertise it online. MS will surely give it to you if you are an approved retailer but probably not if you are an affiliate.
You guys don't understand - the idea isn't to use Trademarked brand names (Microsoft, Honda, etc) but rather PRODUCT names - Clickbank products like "Earth 4 Energy" or "Magic of Making Up" The product names aren't trademarked and Google won't have a problem if you use them as keywords.
Trademarks refer to products and I believe services too. I don't think you can trademark a company name but I could be wrong on that. Microsoft has trademarks on Windows and their other products. However, they could still ask Google to restrict the use of Microsoft in the ads. I know Google does. I can advertise and use the keyword "google adwords account manager" but I cannot have the word Google in my ad (I can have Adwords however as they allow it) unless I ask for an exemption. I doubt there are very much if any trademarked terms of CB products. This is something only big companies would do, not the owner of a product few have heard of. But any one of them could ask Google to not allow the name of the product or the company to appear in any ad.
Google wouldn't get involved unless there was an obvious TM violation...and as you mentioned, CB vendors hardly ever apply for trademarks.
Can I use Google Adwords for domains that I purchased but have them forwarding to an affiliate site with URL masking
This is moronic. Google automatically makes your better performing ads get shown more (ultimately pretty much all the time). It makes NO SENSE only running one ad, and not seeing whether for the product you are promoting a different ad works better. There is no downside (or tiny downside), and potentially hugely significant upside. This is also moronic. At any time Google could ban you permanently, forever, and if you keep trying to sign up, they can sue you. Brilliant.
