I can actually sum it up in two words...... Membership site. I create and market membership sites. Membership sites can be created for any niche. Why a membership site? Because you simoutanesly.... 1. Build your list of opt-in subscribers with each new member you gain. 2. Your list helps you build itself with affiliates (if you give the right incentive). 3. You can earn a re-occurring monthly income from it. Now let me break what I stated above down and explain the process. I would first: create a domain name www.cheap-domain-names.com Get a hosting acccount www.hastyhost.com Get a membership site management script www.launchformulamarketing.com Get a professional design www.sharkstudio.com All of the above can be paid for, you don't necessarily have to do it all yourself. Next: Figure out price of product (It could be a free product, often times more people join) Create a One Time Offer. (This is a special deal that they see when they buy or join your membership site. The trick is to make it unresistable.) Figure out how much your affiliates will get from the inital sale and the OTO sale. (Don't be stingy on the front end sale higher commissions means more affiliates promoting your product for you, I often give 100% commission on my products and instead give a lower commission on the OTO.) Setting upgrade account types. This is the ability to free or paid members to subscribe to a monthly free for extra site perks. This could be special advertising in the members area or extra content only available to those upgraded members. Find JV parnters. (These are people who you give the highest possible commissions to, in order for them to promote your product to their lists of subscribers.) Part Two Coming Soon... I will discuss initial marketing tactics/research and pre-launching your membership site. Till then I leave you with this flow chart that further explains the power of membership sites that was created by John Taylor: http://adtrackpro.com/flow.php
Are you in any way affiliated with those products you mentioned? (Like selling them or do you know their makers?) sharkstudio.com was not found by the way... (could be my DNS but just wanted to mention). Oh, and is "launchformulamarketing" good? Do you use it? Any flaws?
I don't think he can be an affiliate, as he doesn't have affiliate links. Nice post John. I have been preparing the content for a membership site, and will hopefully be launching soon. The only thing I don't like is that the way launch formula marketing is presented, it seems very in design and structure, and I like things to my level of customisation and perfection even if it already is very good (i.e. I have never used or thought of using turnkey sites).
I am affiliated with those sites as they are ones I personally use, but they are not affiliate links. Not sure why studioshark isn't working right now. hmmm well then there is www.cs188designs.com I used Robert Puddys Launch Formula Marketing script with this site: http://www.listmastersecrets.com I highly suggest it as the membership management script, because simply it works, and for $300 you a script that you can use over and over again for as many sites as you feel like creating. Another thing to consider is that that script was created for a marketer who wanted ease of installation and customization, because I know him personally and he is not tech oriented at all.
Oh, and I must add that I liked the post - thanks for that. Just wanted to know if there's something else than "I personally use it". Like, in case he was a friend of yours or something. Anyway - waiting to see the part 2.
I try to stay away from this person is my friend so check out their stuff approach. I use what works, and I would hope that when someone suggests something to me, they have tried it themselves with relevant success. I have a few friends that come up with total crap, but I have a few friends that have gold. Just to note I am currently helping someone launch and develop their own membership site, it may become a service that I offer. I will keep you updated about that.
Nice post man. He is definitely correct about membership sites. My friend just started one that offers a service in a niche. He was so confident in his service that he gave free "samples" we will call them. Visitors that were looking for this service were impressed and now signing up. He dumped an assload of money into it to get it rolling, but by December he is anticipating 20k/mth recurring. Recurring membership renewals is where it is at.
You can't expect to make money if you don't spend a bit. Oh, and about sharkstudio - sorry, we seem to be having problems with our host at the moment. Thanks John for the plug though Justin should have it back online in a couple of days... I hope!
What's with the terrible design of some script and pdf sites like the one mentioned in this thread: http://www.launchformulamarketing.com/? A million pixels long, full of testimonials and devoid of any real information or content. As soon as I see a site like that I stop reading and close the window; it just really turns me off. Is that really an effective design? Do sites like that really makes sales?
Yes the script that site sells makes sales, IF you set up the script correctly and put forth the effort to make it work. Yes I said work. That is that thing that assures you get what you put in. It does apply to online business the same as offline business. Knowing that can mean becoming someone who never profits online to someone who makes whatever they allow themselves to.
The only thing I don't like about membership sites is constantly having to earn that subscription payment. I've joined a few PLR services or internet marketing 'reveal all' services before, but I always quit because the owners let the level of quality drop off over time. I would NOT want the constant pressure of delivering more and more just to keep the payments coming. How do you handle that?
I have both types of memberships, one I create content for monthly. The other one I never have to come up with new content. If you are looking to make a site that offers a product you can sell over and over again, look to offer advertising as one of the perks, in the form of banners, text links, etc. Much like my traffic exchange membership site is set up, where I sell credits, higher commissions, and increased surfing ratios. But I highly suggest that if you open up a membership site, it would be worth it not to be "one of those owners" and try to at least add new value each month. If you have 200 members and 50 of them are paying you only $10 a month, that is $500 right there. Small numbers, but quite a bit extra cash huh? I would say it would be worth it to updated monthly.
I might be interested in doing a joint project with you in the future john. I'm looking forward to hearing about your success with the person you are alredy working with. All the best.
