How I Made $218 With One Amazon Affiliate Site – Test Project​

Fortunes aren’t Made Overnight – You Have to Work Hard For Them​

Dear Brother, Sisters and Haters (my apologies for using this term but I know someone, somewhere will not like this post for no apparent reason), as I type down this tutorial, I am drenched in the spirit of helping all affiliate marketers out there. Startup marketers who are looking to start this thing at a professional level, will find this tutorial VERY HELPFUL.

Perhaps this is going to be one of those Unique tutorials because I have HIDDEN NOTHING in it. The passages throughout this post are accompanied by Screenshots taken from my:

Before moving on with anything I’d like you to know a few things about me. I am known as “Casey” on the internet. I started as a simple writer, who didn’t know anything about the online world, other than the fact that I was supposed to write content for people and get paid for it.

3 Years later, I was on the brink of starting affiliate marketing. If today, someone would ask me why people FAIL at Affiliate Marketing, I’d say this:
“You have to be Crazy for this System to Work for You.”

Craziness is staying up late at night until 7 AM in the morning.

Craziness is working hard and believing that one day it will pay you off.

Craziness is putting EFFORT in the right direction, instead of slaving away like Donkeys.


The following tutorial refers to a TEST PROJECT which was launched by me, while being at the very start of Affiliate Marketing. I am now an Amazon Affiliate, with several businesses up and running. These businesses are of different nature. All of them are not related to Affiliate Marketing. It means that I’d like you to test different things in your life and I’d want you to NEVER put all your eggs in one basket. It’s a phrase that the IM world is quite familiar with.

What is This Tutorial About:

One of my websites, related to one project. It demonstrates how you can make over $200, with only a minimal of $10 Investment (in domain name only). I am not including the Hosting Plan cost here.

Step One:

Your keyword research has to be strong. I launched Energy Take Classic Review (a 5.1 Surround sound speakers website). (www.energytakeclassicreview.com) back in July 2011. All of my keywords were longtail keywords.
Here they are:
a. Energy Take Classic 5.1
b. Energy Take Classic Review
c. Energy 5.1 Take Classic
d. Energy Take Classic 5.1 Review
e. Energy Take Classic Settings
f. Energy Speakers Review

As of this very moment, My website is ranking at 5th and 6th position for “Energy Take Classic Review”. It’s ranking very well for Energy Take Classic Settings, Wall mounts , Wire and blah blah. You can check the stats yourself.

For Energy Take Classic 5.1 I am ranking Number 12 or 13 on Google U.S. This position used to be at number 8 or 5 in the past. But I never worked on Optimizing the Website regularly since a long time now. Why? I moved on with other projects as this one was successful and beyond my expectations.
For other Terms, such as Energy Take Classic 5.1 Review and Energy Take Classic Settings, this website is still on the First Page of Google US.

Keyword Volume:


I wouldn’t use Google Keyword Tool for generating Data about keywords today. It’s 2012, and a lot of things have changed. I would implore you to consider using Google Insights and Google Keyword Tool together, as it makes a very nice combination for the region you are trying to target.

The First Commandment:


Make a blueprint using your own handwriting. You should have written down your targets by now. On a Chart Paper and hung it on the Wall in your room. Look at what I did with just one website:

• Second Commandment:


On Page SEO for Affiliate Marketers is supposed to be done in a very professional way. Even if you are not aware of On Page SEO, you should do your best to go through different free tutorials on the internet. It will help you to understand how things work on the websites.

Here’s What I Did on My website:


- H1 Tag with Main Keyword Phrases

- Main KW Needs to be Bold in First Line of Halfway Down First Para

- Main KE as Clickable Link to Same Page or Some Other Relevant Page of Your Website ABOUT THE SAME PRODUCT

- H2 Tag With Main KW Phrase Down in Your Article

- Sprinkle Main KW and Secondary KW (Not Sparingly) Throughout The Article

- Main KW or Secondary KW Needs to be Bold, Italic, Underlined or Just Italicized At the End of your Article
- I did Meta Tags and Description Using All in One SEO but I’d Want YOU to Use Yoast SEO Tool

You can choose to go to my website www.energytakeclassicreview.com to take a look at how I placed the keywords, how I made them bold. My affiliate links, my outgoing links and stuff like that. Here at this point if YOU DO NOT WANT TO VISIT my website, it’s okay, don’t do it. I don’t want to give you the impression that I am doing it to drive traffic. The last time I posted a website in a tutorial, a guy started bad mouthing my spirit of helping others. No one is forcing you to click any links here. They are just for Demonstration Purposes.

The above 2 Photos, except for the one where I have tracked down my payment, show my dedication towards Off Page SEO. I even showed my own Link Wheel here, but never worked on it because the website was small and didn’t need that much of an intensive link building.
However these photos prove how lengthy OFF PAGE Seo is.

Here’s How to Do It:

Fourth Commandment:


a. SEO is not for a Website! SEO is for Individual WebPages in your Website.

Divide all your backlinking techniques in different module forms.

Module A: Article Backlinks: I converted this module into 2 or 3 press releases about my website. I wrote them and posted on different FREE PR websites to get the link juice.

Module B: Related Articles: I cannot emphasize more on the importance of RELATED content to your actual product review. At the front page of my website, it’s just a 5.1 speaker review about Energy Take Classic Speakers. Had it been 1 or 2 posts, my website or my technique would never have worked.
I had a guy ask me once about being successful on the internet regarding promotion of one product. I told him that you have to discuss EACH and EVERYTHING related to the product your are promoting. What I did was

a. Wrote a Single 1000+ Words Review (Reviewed and Rewrote it a Hundred Times to Make it Look Perfect and Then Posted it)

b. Wrote different issues related to these speakers, 5.1 speaker placement, a common man’s dilemmas concerning surround sound theaters, future of surround sound, 5.1 speaker videos and everything I could think of.

I never EVER optimized my site for Energy Take Classic Mounts, Energy Take Classic Wall Mounts, Energy Take Classic Settings, Energy Take Classic How Tos and stuff like that. But believe me, MOST of my traffic came through keywords that people thought of as problems related to their existing products.
I even received emails at this website’s back end, from people who wanted my recommendation concerning the purchase of these speakers and supporting products that go along with them. I helped them like a salesman is supposed to. Like YOU are supposed to.

So here is my advice to you. If you are going to be making a website about a Single Product, or Multiple Products, Always Include supporting content for the stuff you are trying to promote. A review alone wont suffice anymore these days.

Article Backlinks:
You can write at least 2 articles a week and post them on Go Articles, Ezine or anyother website of your choice. These backlinks are just back links as people hardly seem to care about reading articles these days. I have gone through several SEO surveys and conducted some research on my own. Article directories aren’t that much of an effective SEO technique these days, UNLESS and UNTIL those links are coming from a high page rank source.

Backlinks to Article Backlinks!!
You posted an Article, it is sending you backlinks to your website for a specific product webpage you are trying to promote. Correct? Yes. Now what about creating Backlinks to the Article Banklink page where you submitted your article?
Off Page SEO is getting hectic, isn’t it? Yes but it is equally rewarding. At its core, ANY website and ANY web page where you are going to be posting your link, will act as an Individual web page that deserves some attention from you. These techniques are for Expert SEOers as they like to call them

Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 SEO Methods. For now, just stick with Article Backlinking.


Forum Commenting:


Forum commenting is easy but looking for high page rank Forum Webpages is not Easier. Use SEO Tools to find your competitor websites where they planted their links. U can then move on to do it as they did. I call it the Reverse Engineering Technique.
You can even scan my website and post links for all I care. It wont make a difference to me.

Blog Commenting:


Same as Above.

Terry Kyle, one of my favorite SEO gurus once conducted a research concerning link plantation on Blogs that are related to your niche. I don’t recall it correctly but maybe he built a website about Tinnitus Relief and tried to create backlinks on pages that were only related to tinnitus.
He concluded that it doesn’t matter to Google anymore. Plus, if you are going to be looking for related niches to plant your links, your choice criterion will run short. Just make your comments worthy of reading instead of just posting a link here and there. I know I made some mistakes but I have learned and improved since then.

Profile Back Links:


These backlinks are present in the form of random profiles created by you at different forums. Each profile facilitates the creator with an ability to post a link in the form of website, signature or something else. You should do it to.

What Most People Don’t Do and What YOU Should Do:

• Create a Microsoft Excel Sheet and Save all your progress on daily basis. The page URLs where you created your backlinks are supposed to be saved for later reference as they are an invaluable resource in terms of future product promotion and in terms of creating more backlinks.

• Record keeping also helps in indexation of a website.

• Create accounts at RSS hosting websites to pack all your daily back link progress. Host My RSS facilitates users in posting multiple links in a box, which in return creates a single link. These multiple links are supposed to be links of different web pages where you created your backlinks at.

• Maintain link building velocity. If you have created 5 backlinks, keep it to 5 or 8 on daily basis. Failure to do so will not only make you lazy but it will expect you to expect non existent results.

Indexing is as much important as Off Page and On Page SEO. Google or any other search engine that you are trying to notify, needs to know about your website. Creating backlinks to your website will not help you as much as helping Google in identifying it regarding the URLs where those back links were created. Search for Indexing Tutorials on the internet they are not difficult to follow.

Final Words:


This tutorial is not complete. I would only think of it as a complete topic is you took the initiative of doing some research on your own. Work hard in life. Never give up. $218 if you earn in 4-5 months then that is not enough to make a living. $218 you should make daily. Amazon is paying very less. You should make hundreds of such review sites. Its a hard hard work and will take years if you do it alone. More better way is to hire writers and upload good number of articles everyday. Make money from adsense as well as affiliate programs.

Well brother you sure have a point there but like i said, it was a Test Project. Nothing special. I was just learning affiliate marketing back in 2011 and all the hard work paid off. My theories worked and i have gone way beyond $218. Besides it was only one product, not even a proper niche. But a lot of sales did come in.
By the way, you are also right about creating hundreds of review sites. Lucky for me, m getting married to a girl who loves affiliate marketing just as much as i do. We'll be expanding our empire soon.
