How I increased my revenue over night

    Hey guys.

I don't know if you guys have read my previous posts. I am a new member of DP. I currently run the website http://www.qualitysheetmusic.com. It has been around since February and I've made about $800+. This may seem pretty obvious to some, but I'll explain how I spent $10 overnight on Ebay and how it has affected my traffic.

Essentially, I bought two auctions off ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7542188145&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7542304146&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1

These two sites will bring a combined 215 000 hits total. Although these may not be QUALITY hits, they will definately at least increase the impressions to my site. I checked my account just now, and my revenue has increased at least $4 from what it usually is. I just wanted to share this approach with you guys. Hope it helps.

What kind of ROI are you getting? $4 increase on how many hits used?

Only around 2000 hits have been used. What's ROI?

As i understood, this guy adds your site to some traffic programs, which are prohibited in adsense tos.

I do not see the line in the AdSense ToS which prohibits this.

(I thought it was there too.)

Throwing untargetted traffic to a site which runs adsense will hurt the advertisers CTR rates and skew the data in an unproportionate way. This could cause some advertisers to lose their ads because they aren't maintaining a "healthy" CTR.

I don't understand - can you explain this a bit more? Are those 'traffic exchange' programs or PTR or what exactly...?

Yes, but as I understand, you are forbidden to generate CLICKS, not TRAFFIC.
    Or am I wrong?...

these traffic exchange programs work like this:
you submit your site, and then you start to surf other user's sites in a frame. the site you are viewing is changed every one minute or so. for each site you view, you get 0.5-0.9 credits, and it costs 1 credit to show your site to someone else. you don't even have to be watching this process.

this really creates traffic for your site, but it does nothing for you. because no one is "really" surfing. and someone clicking those ads is completely imaginary.

it says you can not have automated ad impressions. when you have get automated traffic, you also get automated impressions.

There is a post on the WMW forum in which some posted that he got banned for a increase in traffic. I havnt read the post well might have been on something else. I would read that first before you start considering such a offer. But if you got nothing to lose why not give it a try and post your experiences here. But i can tell you in upfront it will cost you more then that it will eventually bring in. If this way of generating revenue really works would you share it with someelse for ten bucks?? Call me whatever you like .....

I know these programs, but they are called 'auto surf' programs, and the original 'traffic exchange' is something else: you see the site and click on some buttom to confirm that you really saw the site.
My question is - what kind of methods for traffic boost are forbidden? I mean, if I want more than 2 visitors a day, I gotta use some methods, don't I?

hmm that ecashtraffic site has a low page rank, you're probably just trying to promote that site because you own it, typical.

It seems a little unclear as to whether this works and/or is allowed. Could ASA give us the big G's view on these schemes?

The part 'automated, deceptive, fraudulent or other invalid means'.

It is very fuzzy; if you want you can put here: traffic exchange, auto surf, link exchange, opt-in safelists, PTR, PTC... I ran out of ideas.
What's left? Asking your next door neighbors to visit your site?
We should have a forum how to increase traffic and not to make Adsense angry at the same time.

i thought this is common sense. people just login to a traffic exchange site, and then go to sleep. it seems pretty automated to me. and no, not all sites require clicking a button or something to confirm that you're really viewing the process. and it is still automated if they require it.

even if this is not against tos, do you really think people will click on your ads? you will just decrease your ctr this way.
