I created different channels for http://www.sh96520.com and noticed that the top gets the most clicks. I need to find out how to preview my site in ie6 now to fix it.
Why not just run one ad block? I don't understand. When i had one adblock, i made 1.17$ (first day, no advertising done) Next day i added 2 more adblocks and i got like 3 cents, from the same number of clicks. As far as i can see, just having one adblock is fine.
Hades, having one ad block is fine for small pages, but often there are several 'hotspots' that visitors will look at (and click) The Adsense help lists a few other occurences: The last bit is also quite relevant to this post.
Well what about proxies? I just set up 8 of them, all having one adblock and one ad linkunit. I mean, proxies have very little content, so im thinking, 1 adblock is fine, right?
One thing that would render this a bit ineffective would be if the reason a particular ad block is getting more clicks is because of THE ADS in it. In which case, moving them around may not change anything. This isn't always the case of course, but might be something to consider if you try this method and nothing happens.
Adpubster - As far as the visitor to the site is concerned, the ads are not moved. You only move the HTML code around - the ads are still displayed in the same location.
Yes, what I meant, though, is that if it is the AD itself (not the placement) that is causing visitors to click it then switching them around on the page may not do anything moneywise. Many times it IS the placement, so it should help then, but if it is the AD then I don't think it will. A lot of the well written (ie, click-enticing) ads are lower paying ones that go to someone else's set of adsense. If the ads are displayed in the same location (same ad occupies same ad block) doesn't that run counter to the premise that google always shows the highest paying ads in the block it encounters first in the html?
Hi Adpubster - Sorry, I misunderstood your comment. You are right, if it is the wording of the ad that is attracting the clicks, then moving it around won't do anything. I am not quite sure what you mean by:
In your post you mentioned that the ads weren't moved which is completely opposite from the whole idea of altering the HTML in the first place When I read "ad", I'm thinking of each individual advertisers text, not the ad block. Upon rereading it, I think you might be meaning that the position of the ad block doesn't change, although the particular ads within them would? If that's what you meant, then I agree.
I would say that the ad blocks are too close together. You have to think like a viewer. You have to give the eyes a rest and move one of the ad blocks in a different location
After a number of people asked if this method was against the TOS I contacted Adsense to get a clarification. They replied that it was perfectly fine to move the order of the ads around to maximise your earnings. HOWEVER, they stated that if you use IFRAMEs as a container for the ads then it is possible to get PSAs. If you are getting PSAs, then you need to make the IFRAME bigger so that you can add content and the content is visible to the site visitor. It is NOT ok to add content to the IFRAME that is not visible to the site visitor. Thanks to the Adsense team for their quick & helpful reply (now if only the indexing team were so responsive....).
i find that in my niche showing the 1 ad block only does best... when i do it like you have.. i get the same amount of clicks but less money.
I do have a few domains with more than 1 adsense blocks, I will definately try this.. Thanks for the tip pal..
