How I got Instant PR5.

No I am not trying to sell an ebook

Among other things I have a small website development business and made a CMS website for a customer. Due to them being popular in their niche industry, they have PR6 - I put on the footer a link to my web design company with the anchor text 'website design' - So the link is showing up in 50+ indexed pages on their site

So with only 2 other incoming links (both PR2) My little website design site is an instant PR5 after being up only a few months

just thought I would share.

Just proves the point .. PR really is not that important.

 

People have been doing that for a while with wordpress templates and sponsored links- Congrats

 

putting links in templates can build links in no time

google no longer values these kind of links so much, they preffer links in a contextual way, not isolated footer links

 

PR is still valuable, i dropped a rank and lost 20% of my income off one of my sites.

 

congrats! And I still believe that footer links (as well as PR) make sense. Don't be to quick with "this is cool and this is useless talks"

Well its not instant if it took a few months is it lol

 

I am not actually sure how long it took - I had the site up for a few months before i put in the links on the customers page. I never really visit my own site since it is more or less a static billboard - so it could have been anywhere from a few days to a month for the pagerank to pass. I just noticed it today actually

Now I am trying to figure out a way to get this to pass to some of my other sites (though I dont think my client would be too happy if I put *THOSE LINKS* in the footer. ;-)

 

Still SERP is more important.

 

I have had a PR6 link since May plus other various lower PR links on one of my sites, yet my site is only PR3, geuss that strategy didnt work for my site

 

PR is to be important and as a marker for site's quality, traffic and so on... but I do know some sites and they have pr4 and no significant traffic and so on... I just want to say that PR is useful but it is not an indicator anymore

When was the last time you searched for a keyword and the first result was a pagerank of 0?

 

114211 -- you are talking about natural search... but it really depends on keyword and even keyword phrase consisting of 2-3-4 words... and there is no difference then in pr4 and pr5...

nobitu -- one way link they have links to your site on their site and you have no links to them on your site

But I'm still convinced that linkbuilding must be followed with traffic increase

 

I agree with the general opinion here. PR is not as important as it used to be but it still helps a lot. You just have to know the right way to monetize your high PRanked sites.
