How I Effectively Generate Quality Content for my Blog

I see this question a lot on DP, so I've decided to outline how I continue to generate high quality content for my blog. My blog is a spiritual blog, but this will work for any niche.

The first thing I do is go to https://app.buzzsumo.com and type in a keyword that is relevant to my niche. For me, this could be "spirituality", "Buddhism", "New Age", etc. For you, it might be "marketing", "SEO", "Fly Fishing", or whatever.

In the results, there will be blog posts that have ranked well and been shared a lot. I'll use this information to generate blog post ideas that seem popular and I'll create a list of topics. I usually have around 30 - 60 topics in my list.

Next, I'll begin writing an article for each topic. Each article gets scheduled for posting on my blog, one per day. Once I have about a month of posts scheduled, I can sit back and begin working on my next round of posts without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Generating high quality content on a niche blog to engage your readers is not as difficult as it may seem. It just takes a little work!

That is a great method for creating shareable content but promotion will be the thing to get you the real traffic you are looking for.

I recommend using social media communities. Some get so caught up with trying to get a large number of people to follow them so they can hopefully get more click throughs etc. The thing is, if you join communities in your niche, you can share you content to thousands of people that are interested in what you have to share from day one. Google + is my biggest referral source due to its communities.

How do the ranking and share rates of *your* articles compare to the originals? Do you think it is the content that leads to their superior share numbers, or is it possible they have been a little disingenuous about how those numbers were achieved?

I suggest you have to do social sharing and social book marketing on published urls. You can use facebook, google +, twitter, pinterest for social sharing and scoop.it, stumbleupon, diggo and many other site you can use for social book marketing, this will help to drive real traffic on your blog.

I never really feel like I have a problem. I have a lot to say and a lot of knowledge on my subject area (weight loss & blogging) and I have never had writers block. In fact my problem is I have so many blog title ideas that sticking to a post a day and having lots on the reserve that I want to do NOW is more the problem.

This is a really good stuff for new users, how to maintain blog. Now, you want traffic for your blog and for that you have to share your post on so many sites. Firstly, you can share your post on communities in google+ as @Steven J Wilson said. Also like some spiritual pages(as your blog on religion) on facebook and drop your link over there. Comment on blogs for niche categories with your link. Join forum communities. Do bookmarking, create video if you can. By these activities, you will get a number of backlinks and get traffic as well. This is my strategy to get traffic.

Google keywords is the first thing that popped into my mind the moment I started reading this thread. Our content marketing team is using both BuzzSumo + G Keywords + social media integration with a twist of occasional forum and guest posting .. that's our recipe to boosting our blog site's traffic.

I still find G+ so incredibly confusing but this is great information. I am new to this forum and I found this particular thread quite interesting. Thank you all for the inspiration.

I always forget using buzzsumo, especially when looking for a content idea.
Thanks for the heads up, will bookmark it! haha
Anyway, I like your strategy -- scheduling; a month ahead is just great.
You can work on important things without even have to worry about what to post on your blog everyday.

To start SEO for the site, Google Analytics data is not the first analysis because it only provide the traffic of the site. It should begin on the internal structures analysis of the site which includes the meta tags, broken links, 404 errors, content, etc.
