    Did someone tell you to do that to your .htaccess file, because I'm not sure what you're asking.

    If you are having an issue with mod_rewrite then being able to see the contents of your .htaccess file and have a description of the problem helps.

    Well if you did that you'd be left with just the following which wouldn't do a lot:
    Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
    Code (markup):
    It means remove every occurrence of.
