I'm working in a top company design Joomla template. I can design, Code XHTML
    CSS and cross 8 browsers.
I think I can start a part time business to design Joomla template.
But I don't know how to start it? I think it is best to ask experts here to have good advices.
    Thank you so much,:)

    take your time.
find a good url for your business and just submitt free templates to start to other websites.
then you will get more traffic to your own website so you can charge for better made ones.

You could design a joomla template for me. It'd be a good way to build a portfolio. I'm on a tight budget though, so if you can do it for relatively cheap PM me / Contact me!

Free templates and discounted work for DP members is probably a great way to start. Once you have 10-15 different designs, open your website and start promoting. If you're looking for some work for your portfolio, PM me. I'm looking for a somewhat intensive joomla template now.

    1. Get a domain.

    2. Design at least 1 template and put it on the site as a sample.

    3. Post in the services section that you're a designer and link to your sample.

    4. Create a free template and spread it around.

    5. Give cheap prices to your first couple of clients to build your portfolio fast. Once you do a project, put it in your portfolio on the site and ask for feedback from your clients.

    6. Do a new post on DP about your services each 1-2 weeks and make sure you add your site's url to your signature.

    7. Seek out other webmaster forums and participate.

    8. Keep good records of your clients, so you can notify them of special deals in the future, which is usually an easy way to build up extra business.

    9. After you've made a few bucks, spend $10 or less and hire someone at DP to submit your site to directories.

    10. Next, write an article about designing and submit it to article directories like Ezinearticles.com. Make sure the article has 3 links in the bio section (home page and links to 2 items in your portfolio).

    11. Think about forming a LLC or INC for your business.

    Good Luck!

I think many Joomla users will need templates. I tried joomla and it is very hard to modify things unless you know a lot about code.

you might also want to help with planning of addins, installation, and maintenance because Joomla seems to take contuining optimization over time.
