There's also some services that will automatically follow people based on keywords that you specify. Just Google "twitter auto follow" and check some of them out. That way you don't have to spend so much time click on the follow button. Be sure to unfollow people that don't follow you back, you can do that weekly or so.

Pretty good advice from you all but i think you miss something...having a horde of followers will not guarantee traffic. The fact is...only 1% of your followers will actually follow the link you attached in your tweets. The reason being is simple...they are there with the same reason as you...to have as many follower as possible. Most if not all of them don't even care about who they follow. Heck! it's a lot better spending my time in facebook which if I might add is the second best source for my traffic. All the best
