What have worked for me is whenever I make a post on my blog, I always post a link of the blog to Facebook and twitter and also other social media sites and I often get new and returning visitors always it works well for me.
The best way to approach facebook is simply creating a page for your company/product, start getting LIKES and FANS and slowly spreading the news of your product releases, etc.
Yes i agree that you should involve FB and Twitter in your business but still if that is serious company than you should do LinkedIn too to make connections (it helps a lot for business) or if you are some kind of selling than you should go with Pinterest too ..
