How I Broke Alexa 500K In Less Than A Month Using Only Social Media

Alexa's traffic rating has never been great. It not really something to start a party about most of my new sites where under 500k after a month too.

 

we all agree that alexa's rankings are not representative for traffic measurement purposes. But services such as Text Link Ads and Review Me use the ranking to predict their link and review prices, which directly affects a blog's income.

 

This is true. Alexa rankings from a a technical standpoint are incredibly silly. However, they are also really important in terms of ad revenue (obviously). If you're using blogads, textlinkads, or review sites Alexa will play a key role. I have a PR3 site with just over 1 million Alexa. In a month or two, it'll be under 500K and my potential ad revenue will more than triple, and I'll actually be eligible for some networks that I wasn't before (like TLA).

So yeah, you should be very proud that you were able to get a good Alexa ranking in less than a month without resorting to skeevy methods like bought traffic. I think everyone that is downing you should put their money where their mouth is and post their sites here so we can all see how high their ranking really is.

It only takes me weeks to get a site into 200k or less. Isn't hard.

nice plug for your blog, but honestly that is not an awesome achievement or anything! 10k or less would be good

 

this thread is a great resource at least - it proves how much of a pile of BS alexa is...

 

getting under 200k is not a hard job

 

I think the real competition starts at around 70k and lesser

 

That's a good start - now keep up the pace and go to the 200K or 100K rank next.

 

Compete.com and quantcast.com both do a better job. Don't rely on only one source.
