Hey Guys, I know website flipping is on the rise, so I thought I would write about my own experience in doing this. When I bought this website, I intended to keep it for the long term, but circumstances changed so I had to sell it. Like a lot of entreprenuers, every now and then I find myself taking a look at the sitepoint marketplace. Not really because I’m looking for a website to buy. More just because it’s an interesting place to look. It’s a great place to learn how to value websites, and it’s also astounding to see some prices that websites are fetching, like an iphone unlocking site I saw there that sold for over quarter of a million dollars. FunGamesPlaza.com stood out for a few reasons. 40,000 unique visitors a month. 60,000 page views a month. $1200 Revenue a month. All of that, and the bidding was at $6,000 with about 5 days to go. Upon further investigations, there were quite a few other things that made this site attractive. - The owner wants to sell - Traffic is coming from everywhere - Simple revenue - Old domain, tons of links - SEO potential Basically I then did it up, and was forced to sell, and managed to get an extra 5k for it so I'm really stoked. I've written about these and about selling it as well all in my blog here if you want to read more about it. What do you guys reckon? Anyone done anything similar?
I personally will not buy flipped site coz the site have limited space to grow in many form such as revenue. And yes i also have successful sold some of flipped blog at right price after 1 week i bought from the other.
Being a man who was introduced to the internet owing to Wordpress, I can safely disagree with mentos's statement. I believe flipped sites grow in many forms and revenue is one of it. Being a blogger or a flipper, for that matter, one must have personal growth modules established for revenue. Things that most others didn't know about or were not looking I've had experiences with blogs wherein the seller was making a meagre $5 a week and I was able to make $12-$14 with the same traffic. n00b
