Pretty often I hear people complaining about how hard it is to generate revenue from low traffic websites. In this part of the case study I'm going trough some methods to increase AdSense revenue for low traffic sites (yes, I'm not going to talk on how to increase traffic, but how to utilize limited assets more efficiently). The project site (Ringtone-Search) has been online about 2 months, and it is slowly beginning to accumulate visibility, traffic and online revenue. I'm still talking peanut figures here, as I have not found enough time to do anything large scale besides content writing. Below are some figures from last month: * Visitors coming trough search engines: 150-200 unique visitors per month * Visitors coming from other sources: 300-400 unique visitors per month * Subscribers: some So how to generate some level of sensible revenue from such low figures? Let's assume you are currently getting US10 / month, and you'd wanted to get US$40/month, how to do it? The equation for revenue is simple: clicks x price per click . Let's first issue how to improve the price per click factor. * Target your content for high-paying keywords In theory: This is simple maths. With 0.10 click payout, generating a 40 dollar income would require 400 clicks. With 0.50 click payout, generating a 40 dollar income would require only 80 clicks. How this is done on project site: Most of the mobile related marketing is around paid premium content and cheap mobiles. I have nothing against these as they are a very good and profitable business as themselves. However, these have very limited qualifications on bringing up decent payouts for AdSense advertiser. Ringtones etc. are low priced (bulk) products, hence the low payouts... Instead I try to come up with topics from high paying services / industries and find out ways to embed these to site topic in an interesting and meaningful way. Sometimes it's hard work, sometimes it's easy... For example binding SEO and mobiles was easy catch with this article about Mobile Adsense. * Write your content for high quality, niche markets In theory: Niche markets are usually very mature and business oriented with selected interest of topics. And when I say business users, it means users with money and power to make decisions; target audience most serious advertisers dream and target for. Hence the payouts are good and it also shows in ad design (a relevant and good ad gets more clicks than a bad one)... As an added bonus, working with niche markets is easy and rewarding in SEO sense (so called long-tail keywords). How this is done on project site: A good example is this post about mobile digital rights management. Topic is definitely niche (for the time being) and targeted for selected readers, but big business with some serious advertising. Improving click count is a lot harder, as a lot relies on ad relevancy, ad design, season etc. outside factors. I think the average CTR for Adsense moves somewhere around 1% (meaning that in order to generate 40US$ a site should have 40,000 impressions with 0.10 payout per click or 8,000 impressions with 0.50 payout per click). By improving CTR to 2% or higher, site can generate the same income with half the traffic. So how to do this: * Place focus on ad positioning In theory: Track and follow until you find the most efficient ad positioning for your needs. How this is done on project site: Instead of relying 3rd party tools (like AdLogger,I used the channels option available on Adsense site. It's simple and provides necessary statistics to analyze situation for this kind of low traffic site. So far I've tested 3 layouts and various ad sizes, and I think the current layout will stick for some time. It has CTR about 3x higher than the earlier attempts. * Write content that attracts users in buyer mode In theory: Users seeking information about a specific product are much more likely to click and buy something than those seeking for generic information. If you liked it please comment and rate it to 5 stars. Thanks
ok thanks for great info.. may i know if our site is not update for 3 month did u think my site will disappear in google search engine? because it happen to me now for this month and no visitor from google search
How ? By copying and pasting old articles ? from 2006 ? Wow how unique .... Original article : http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-project-generating-adsense-revenue-from-low-traffic-site-pt3
Good advice here. You could have had a better constructed thread title though. Something like 'AdSense Revenue Increasing - Tips' or something would be more relevant to your post. It just seems you're not actually earning 'Alot'.
I don't think so your site will disappear from Google search Engine but updating your site almost once a week will keep your site atleast near top pages of Google and having famous niches in your site/blog will keep your all posts in priority by Google Search bot.
I am not telling anybody in my post that how much i am earning???? This post is not about the figures that how much i made?????........lolz. This post is related to techniques that i used for my sites. So you said great reality is dream and after applying these techniques to my sites then i am posting here. Not before applying. Hopefully you got the point. These techniques are workable and this time it is a reality and we should accept the reality with the above said techniques. If you have any other new techniques then please share them here and i will appreciate and apply those techniques on my site and blog.
I think you didn't read the post completely. I didn't said anywhere that this is my personal post and i made it after sitting under a tree. So try to understand the purpose of post and techniques to make your site/blog workable for adsense. These techniques are old but my brother OLD is GOLD. These techniques cannot be changed ever.
Haha, BUSTED!!! The "tips" are useful enough, too bad it's COPIED from somewhere else (and didn't credit the ORIGINAL author).
u know i try paste some of my article at google search but the result is so sad .. i didnt see my link at the google rank, i mean it disappear .. so maby your suggestion to update my site one a a week so mean that i can use free article paste inside my site?
yes you are right. You can even use free articles related to your site niche and topic can be very useful and their are many sites offering their free articles for republish or reprint. So you can use them for your site/blog and you can also do it on daily basis. I mean atleat 1 articles publishing daily will bring your site in top searches by Google within a month and this would be a great idea to keep your sites updates.
LoL and have a look in his post where the original author uses sites and other articles as a reference : ~~~~~ And you never mentioned the source either and nor did you give credit to original author ...
really? before this i'm so worry about this.. so did u think i must do it back now..? so after i give a update i need to ping also my site also?
Purpose of this post to share techniques not author home address or phone address. No one from us is going to meet author to present him a bundle of credit. (Accept the Reality) The purpose of the thread to share techniques and tips to make the sites and blogs better of all DP brothers. So they can learn something from here. So please share some technique with all. If you have or know any technique then share it here please.
The writeup is good and is surely worth a read. It is good on OP's part that he took the pain to bring to our notice an old article but he should also accept the mistake gracefully that he failed to acknowledge the credit where it was due. It is just a matter of following good practices, particularly since it does not in anyway undermine one's efforts. Regards, RightMan
Yes offcourse and you can ping it at Pingoat and pingomatic to send a ping. Please note that donot use both services to ping. Use and choose only one from both. Hopefully it will done a great job for you. On the other hand you can also use webmaster account of Google to keep your site/blog indexed for months.
You are right. May be i should credit the author but i think techniques are much important for a site owner then an author.
It's not about the home addrees or phone number, it's stealing and breaking the law ... the article is not intended to be copied and pasted - it's copy righted. And it also gives others the belief that you are knowledgeable and are a trusted source of knowledge, which clearly you are not ... as demonstrated below : Copying an article from another site to your own will end up in the trash and wont be indexed for long, Google will realize that the content is duplicated "Duplicate Content" and delete your page from the index (search results).
I think you should read my words again. I said that the sites which are offering free articles and content for reprint and republish. I think you should understand the meaning of reprint and republish. There are many sites which are offering their free articles for reprint and republish. If you are not well aware of this then go to Google and make a search and update your knowledge brother.
You never mentioned exclusive rights to the articles or article, in which case you have to purchase the article. You have said : and the above are freely distributed articles that everyman and his dog have and can use, in this case will equal duplicate content, duplicate content equals shit ... and like I said :
