That would be great to khow which ads are penny-paying. I've been experimenting with ad filters but no luck. Now just leave them as they are.

If you ask me, my theory in the whole of this smart pricing issue

Your adsense revenue is directly linked with your SERP ranking for the keywords of your webpage

You try to get your webpage rank for a keyword, they come high in serps, then adsense serve u those ads which adwords advertisers have bid for, so far higher in SERPs that you come up your webpage starts displaying high paying (highly bid) ads, simple, there is no major smart pricing algo, it is all directly linked to your serp ranking

    This is my personal experience

When my website started getting displayed in the first page of google for a big keyword of the industry where you get high paying ads, i never got high paying clicks, but the moment my site is in first page of google (9th position precisely for more than 0,000,000,000 competing sites) suddenly i found that my adsense ads have changed completely, there are all major advertisers who are industrial leaders, all those MFA kind of ads that i used to see for last 1.5 years are gone.
So IMO SERP ranking are related to your adsense clicks or say advertisers displaying ads

Wow! Never heard of that. Are you sure?
It's obvious that you're earning much money if you're #1 because of the traffic.
    Interesting.
    Thanks for sharing.

You sound like you have experience and have thought this through, but I remain confused.

How on earth would Google know whether or not a visit to an advertiser's site converts? Not everyone uses Google Analytics, and defining a "conversion" is in and of itself an art.

I believe that a major advertiser would manage traffic sources toward those with higher conversions, and that this might involve buying Google traffic from specific sites or channels that they have found convert. But I can't see any way that they could specifically (or algorithmically) exclude sites from Adsense that don't convert. And while of course Google can write an algorithm to do anything, they just wouldn't have the advertiser conversion stats.

I'm taking three things from this valuable thread:

    1) Link units suck.

    2) Less ads is probably better. It's easy enough to set up channels for different ad units in Adsense and rip out the ones that no one clicks on.

    3) Use the filter to kick out "made for Adsense" sites that are no doubt trying to bid low for Adsense.

Good 3 points, but don't forget this one too:

    4) follow the cost per click (CPC, EPC or whatever you call it) every day

I've read on Google that there is no such thing as smart pricing. But if you say so.

All you are saying is correct though.

Adpubster, just because it doesn't seem logical or sounds unfair to you, it still doesn't mean it's not used in their formula to some degree. I have also noticed this smart pricing coming in play for both low and too high CTR for both Adsense and Adwords. Don't claim it's impossible, just because it doesn't seem to make sense. CTR has affected Adwords advertisers pricing for years now, so it's expected the actual publishers adsense accounts with has a certain ideal metric as well.

If you think this seems illogical to you, check this out.. Instead of affecting one channel or site, I also noticed that it affects multiple sites in your Adsense account, instead of that one specific channel or website.. This totally baffles me why Google would punish extremely high quality sites that are converting, just because they don't like the CTR or conversions 1 site or channel.

Neither of these scenarios makes sense to me either, but it does seem CTR raises some type of smartpricing filter with Adsense.. I wish it was as simple as the advertisers conversions and ROI, however I also believe it's impossible for Google to know each advertisers' conversions (as they themselves often don't know), so google uses some mathematical thresholds to deem which sites "may" be less worthy.

I'm not upset about that, however just because one of my sites may not meet an estimated advertiser conversion standard, I think it's hugely unfair to punish my site that may be. This really makes it hard on the publisher that has multiple websites of varying quality and themes..

It would be nice if can tell us your website url or make a video logging into your adsense account hiding your personal info but show you payment history, otherwise this post of yours is useless to me and anybody who is doing the same thing is useless in this forum.

Today ill be taking adsense off all my old sites that are getting 10-20 impressions a day and see if this helps my adsense on my new sites that are getting 1000+ impressions. Will report back with results.
