I took the advice in the original post and stripped ads from pages that were not performing.
Seeing somewhat of a better CPC.
Had to do something, the revenue was taking a nose dive!

High CTR (above 10%) create any smart pricing.

If anything changes, I suspect it's mostly coincidence. CTR on your page is not what matters...and if it does, it's a high CTR that might hurt. It's how the visitors perform when they get to the Advertiser's site that counts! And we as publishers have no way of knowing how they perform.

Link ads work well on some sites, not as well on others. Before just taking them off, I'd investigate how much they are making for you.

Remove the sites with low CTR? What the @#$% for? I've said it before about 20 times, _your_ CTR is not what matters, it's the followthrough (the conversions) on the advertiser's site that matters. No one has yet answered this satisfactorily in a way that supports the "remove low ctr sites" premise:

You have a CTR of 2% The follow through on the advertiser site is 95%

    or

You have a CTR of 10% The follow through on the advertiser site is also 10%

Now, pretend that you are the advertiser...which site (the one with 2% or the one with 10%) are you going to favor the visitors from? Hint, the answer is the 2% site, you get a 95% conversion rate. 2 is less than 10 The 2% site is the low ctr, why would that get smart priced?

If anything, higher CTR is probably more likely to get you smart priced than a lower one because a higher CTR site.

I got smart priced too. My web pages were getting about 300 visitors a month and they were clicking like 10 times a month, which gave me like 15 bucks. Then i got smart priced and it went to like 5 bucks.

So i got mad and fought google back by increasing my web visitors to 1000 a month!! Now i got about $16 bucks a month. Kicking google's butt now!!

If they smart price me again to $5, i'm gonna fight even harder and quadruple my visitors to 4000 a month. so far i haven't needed to. i get my $16 +- .35.

    Fear me google

This is very true. I suspect that most of the complaints by people that they've been "smart priced" can be answered by the fact that their sites have become infested with penny-paying MFA ads. I've had that happen to me. I did nothing but make judicious use of the competitive ad filter and my ePC went right back up.
