    That's very interesting Hans. Thanks for posting it.

    My 2 sites are still mired in Bourbon. I saw none of the recent action where some sites had a recovery. One I have worked on, changing the index page, cleaning it and reducing the keword density. The other I have pretty much left as it was - changing a couple of internal pages but not the index. Neither have had any significant rises or further drops.

    I hope that you are right and it's not a penalty - though it does feel like one!

    The first site I lost in May <whatever day it all started> and the second I lost on June 16th. One seems a bit more affected than the other, as the second site managed to keep it's main KW inside the top 10 (Just) though has dropped significantly for all others.

    Anyone else bourbon is still affecting?

    My website is just 3month only. The last BL gave me a PR4 and I am working harder now to build good backlinks. Hard work pays :))

    <offtopic>

    You picked probably the worst of my sites as an example. :D

    But you are correct, much needs to be done.
    </offtopic>

    But as clarification, the other sites (not on the same domain) that I administer did not experience any notable change.

    I am also experiencing some rather large moves in keywords. Some days I am seeing as much as – 40 move. Most keywords seem to be moving five places down then recovering in a day or two.

    I can’t make any sense of this. The sight is two years old.

    June 16th

    that is the same date as my 1st disppearance from G ( see date below.

    to re-cap the dates - easiest way is to look at google adsense
    :)
    when the daily income dropped from normal to a third or so ... thts the date and the recovery when it started to steeply climb up again ...

    i am quiet sure it is NO penalty at all

    but a shot in front of your ( our ) bow :)

    NEVER depend on one major SE
    always fully optimized on ALL major SE and never exclude minor SE.

    make all happy even if it costs extra efforts and time!!

    keep all other prmotion activities FULL open - i.e. RSS feeds, newsletters, etc

    mortgage-pro-seo

    large moves 40 ??

    if you see some -9998 lasting for days or weeks ...
    then we talk about large moves

    you have to understand G

    40-100 or so down
    means the one page having the real keyword is OUT of db for any reason - lack of backlinks or popularity ...

    see what pages is known at G that gives the -40 result

    it may be a page referring or linking with correct anchor text to the REAL keyword-page.

    cross link every important page from within your site several times
    make sure important pages also are submitted to minor directories ... to assure G and Y know that THIS is an important page because it is linked many times from all over the web ( including signature links )

    +/- 5 places or so up and down is normal every once in a while if you have a weak SERPS ..
    NEWS feeds appear in your field and may be top for a few days or weeks then disappear and you are back

    it basically means your SEO is weak and can / is repeatedly topped by others

    good luck

    No major changes, still in the sandbox; ranking much lower than those sites with lower PR for my search phrases. :mad:

    ukmp3, did you do anything to your site? One site (yes, I lost my two money sites) I have modified lots of, and not touched the other.

    When did your traffic return?

    We have cleaned up many of our urls on the server side and added more content!

    What I did find strange was this:

    Delete your site map from Google and from site, leave it 3 - 4 days and then put it back. The effect I have seen is very strange!

    Google bot was hitting us about 300 times per 24 hours, after doing the above that went to 1,000 per 24 hours. Now I don’t know if it is related in any way but it certainly triggered something.

    signature links is what we all have and you appear to have missed
    it normally is a feature almose every forum allows to some degree - some longer signatures some shorter ones and a very few none at all.

    all typical forum software on the market nowadays has a system comparable to THIS - DP - forum (vbulletin forum software)

    to enjoy a forum signature with a few direct links to the pages you may find most interesting FOR US forum members ...

    go in DP forum to your

    --> User CP
    --> Settings & Options select --> Edit signature

    now edit your signature

    and

    COPY and save a version of THIS signature - you may want to use the same or very similar in other forums - most have exactly the same syntax ... hence later just copy and paste or edit offline.
    usually the size is limited to 255 characters ... some allow double - i have no limit on my 5 human related forums
