Hi there everyone, I'm just trying to get a few ideas and some more information on an idea I had. How hard would it be to create a site like cjb.net? For those of you who don't know cjb.net is like a free host where you can make a domain for free with a cjb.net suffix.

So for example if I wanted to register Topfrog007 with cjb.net my domain would be "Topfrog007.cjb.net"

How hard would this be to make site where people could register their own domains based off of your own? What software would it require and what is a good estimate for storage and traffic space?

    Many thanks in advance!!

NOTE: I am not affiliated with any of the websites or software mentioned here.

You can find various small-url scripts on ebay and the web relatively cheaply (well under $20) which you probably wont need because a lot of free-hosting scripts have this feature built in. You'll need a program like Ipanel.

Free Hosting Script (script isnt free)

Here is a great deal for hosting (100gb storage/1tb transfer $20/month)

Well, I think it depends on your programming skills, or on your willingness to spend some money. If you wanted such a site, I'd reccommend you to get a programmer who can make it for you, for a previously agreed amount of money. There are a lot of freelance programmers to be found on this forum, or on various places where you can find a freelancer.
Once you have the program, you'd only need to build a site for yourself around it. Then, you'd have to determine how many subdomains you'd want to give away, and how much webspace you'd want to give them. I've heard that Bandwith=30*webspace is a quite good calculation to determine how much bandwith you need, as long as the sites don't get very popular.
    Good luck!
