I found a term that gets about 1500 searches a day and I did an intitle:keyword search and it only has 55,000 pages. Should this be easy? How long would this take if I concentrated on link building?
It's absolutely impossible to give an answer. We would need to see the keyword/keyphrase you're searching for. The amount of pages means nothing. If the websites in the top 10 rankings for that term spend thousands on SEO whilst the remaining 50,000 odd don't spend much then it will be as hard to rank in page one as it would be for a search term with billions of results. Feel free to send me the keyword/keyphrase via PM if you want to keep it confidential. I can also tell you if your 1,500 searches per day is accurate.
It should be easy, however the top 10 may update their websites daily or weekly with new content full of keywords, which will make them a stronger competitor. Can i ask how you found out that it gets 1500 searches a day? Will.
Not very hard at all that's for sure ... How mant results anyway anything below 1 milion results is quite easy ...
i absolutley agree with that. i edited one of my pages to include some keywords i was aiming for and in a few days i was already in the top10 out of 700k results
That's quite a naive view to have and I disagree. The number of results means nothing, if anything it just vaguely shows the popularity of a topic. As an example say you have 100 search results for a term. The top 10 of those spend £300,000 per year on SEO and have major expert campaigns, the remaining 90 spend casual amounts and run small-scale SEO campaigns. How easy will it be to rank in page one then? That's only 100 results, not one million. Your page one and page two competitors are the biggest factor when assessing the difficulty of competing for a keyword. No matter how many results there are for a page, it won't tell you how difficult it will be. Working out what you have to do to reach page one, this will tell you.
