Its not really any hard to get listed in yahoo dir. Pay money and if you have quality site you will be approve in 2-3 days.

From my experience yahoo will bring not any such traffic but it help you to boost your serp on yahoo search engine.

Not hard at all. Send them the $$$ and you get in...unless you have a spammy sort of site (but I guess that goes without saying). :)

    2 Options:

    1) Pay money.
    2) Create an outstanding site and suggest it for free. Plus pray that they accept it.

At least I think paid submission is faster than free submission. I submit to thousands of free directories, only few of them get approved. As one of the biggest directories, I think it's worth $299. The only bad thing is that if you are rejected twice for the site, you will get no refund.

I didn't know there was a free version in English.

try submitting to the Asia and Europe yahoo dir, they are free last time I checked.

The free submission takes for ever to be reviewed (maybe longer than DMOZ - but that's hard to beat)

IMO the $300 is worth it if you are outside U.S. Because Google pretty much dominates U.S searches, but in Asia a lot of people use Yahoo - same in many other countries.

If you have the money, do it...it might be worth spending the money on getting 1000 directory submission (even more, closer to 3000 with recent rates)

    Cheers,
    Nima

I got a site listed. I can't remember how long it took to get accepted, a few weeks I think.

Google doesn't crawl the deeper pages too often so I can't comment on the effect on SERPs. My site was added abouta month ago and googles cache date is 18th May :(

    BUT

My site was chosen for the yahoo picks which meant a day on the front page of the directory, a week on the picks front page and in an email sent to thousands of people. I got about 50,000 extra uniques.

This got my site noticed by thousands of webmasters and I have got hundreds of links in without any effort. I even got printed in a national newspaper! The site should be a PR5 after the next update, this is power of link bait.

I thought the free was only for personal sites. If it's a commercial site they want your money.

Yeah for commercial sites it's $299, and it's really a toss up on if it's worthwhile in contrast to spreading around $299 elsewhere.

I mean $250 + corrupt DMOZ editor might go better.

I got in but had to pay the $299 to get project4hire.com listed. To tell the truth, I have not received any significant traffic from the yahoo directory and I now think it wasn't a wise investment.

In my opinion the $299 isn't worth it (if you even get accepted). You could buy featured placement if lots of quality PR4/5 directories for that amount which would give you more exposure I think.

If its a good site and you follow their guidelines then they will accept it. Just submit and forget about it for a few months.
