    All rite guys,

I found a nice little keyword I would like to rank for the avr. PR on first page is under 2.5.

There are a few PR 0 pages on first page... (but I do believe the over all PR of the sites are all above 2 PR).

    The niche is insurance.

The competition is less than 10K.... (keyword gets around 2K searches).

Based on experiences would this be a good keyword to go after?

Or is it impossible to go into insurance niche>?

    Many thanks in advance.

It's impossible to tell without knowing the keyword. I wouldn't suggest posting it on here, if you drop me a private message, I'll let you know what I think about the keyword.

Come on now for over 2k a month I will say its an good keyword...but at the same time do you think the keyword will be productive. That is the question you must ask yourself..

Just FYI, my research shows that Page Rank has no bearing on ranking for a keyword.

Generally the PR of a page does not affect how well it ranks...its always good to look at PR though, because it give you an idea of how much "Love" Google has for the site...but in reality it tells you nothing about how strong your competition is.

If you search for the keyword in quotes, and get the less than 10k competing pages, then it SHOULD be pretty easy to rank for...but now you must also go look at how many backlinks the pages have that are currently in the top 10...and also you need to go and look at how well those pages are optimized for the specific keyword...on top of that you going to need to get an idea of how well established the top 10 sites are by looking at their age...traffic travis is a great free tool for checking these kinda things.

As mentioned by poppaippi above, you also going to need to get an idea of how well this keyword will convert...It's totally pointless if you get the number 1 spot in google if all the people are not really interested in what you have to offer...Check how many adwords ads are being displayed when you search for your keyword...many ads gives indication that many advertisers are making money from this keyword...no to little ads probably means that it gets no conversions

All right thanks for all the replies.

Some of the sites are a bit aged... (5 years plus) and there are also a few year 0).

Backlinks on front page ranges from 12 - 2000. Most of them are around the 200-600 mark.

I will suggest you that whatever keyword you choose it should be less competitive and could generate more traffic on it.
