I've been making websites for a long time but never focussed on link development. Some of those sites are PR2 now without having done anything. The problem is that now that I do want to work on link development I have no idea where to really start. I could probably get a PR1 for a new site with the next update but what does it take to get beyond PR2? Sorry if this question is stupid but I would really like to know how everybody here does it.
A couple of hints are: Place your site in social bookmark sites that have MEGA backlinks and find some good PR4-5 sites to link in. A couple of DP sigs wouldn't hurt any either!! PM me and I can tell you a few great sites to link in free!
Not difficult at all. You can get to PR3 or more simply by getting some links to your website with decent PR. There's plenty more to do to make a good website, but to answer your PR question, some good links will do it.
PR4 is not much difficult to achieve. You can try the following link development : Article Submission Directory Submission Blogs Commenting Social Bookmarking
Thanks for the information. I've submitted my website to a lot of directories but I don't see them as backlinks in Google. How exactly does blog commenting and social bookmarking work without it being spamming?
I also have some 7-8 year old web-sites, they are still PR3-4. And I keep reading people claiming to have reached PR5 within 4 months. Beats me how they do it.
For me it's almost the same, actually. I've seen sites go to pr4 from just getting two quality links.
What kind of links are considered quality links? Don't people have to pay for most links on pr5+ pages?
yeah, its pretty rare to not have to pay for that kind of link unless you're offering a reciprocal link of similar quality.
Gaining PR4 takes some time and shelling out some money. Quality links also gives you a bump on high PR. Yeah I know a site gain PR5 in just 6 months. Very possible...
Well i got loads of backlinks with good quality PR, but i am still on PR0 , and it doesnt look like i am getting higher , predict PR tools say though PR5 but i dont think we can trust em
Mine was pr5 for years but then g did its big pr update and now I'm down to 4. I've seen this quite a bit across the web. It kinda bites.
What did you do to get it to pr5 and how long did it take you? It seems that the harder I'm trying the more difficult it seems..
PR4 is not problem, and you can achieve it only from free directories. PR5 is more difficult, and you must have not only quantity, but also quality links on your site.
