it's easy to get listed in local page, you only need to prove the helpfulness & usefulness of your site to their local editors

Was it one of the sites in your signature? One of them has been removed by blogspot and the other is down for maintenance!

Lets just say. Check in a few days . then a few weeks , then a few years, then in the end you should maybe be accepted after 2-4 years haha

But why bother even checking? I have never understood this obsession.

    After you check, what happens:
    1) You are not listed. Life goes on and you do nothing differently.
    2) You get rejected. Life goes on and you do nothing differently.
    3) You get listed. Life goes on and you do nothing differently.

What changes in your life because of checking DMOZ? Why waste your time checking. Submit once. Move on. Forget about it.

Care to explain that to the 9000 sites that got added in January? 9000 is more than most directories have listed in total!

Unless your site is useful in its own right it can be difficult.

It takes several months to be listed. You just need to be patient in waiting.

I completey agree with what Agent000 said. It is very hard to get listed in DMOZ. If you are listed or unlisted it is not going to change the status quo much, but we cannot ignore DMOZ because google bases its searches on the directory, so just submit it once and then move on.

Please substantiate such statements. How does Google base their searches on the directory? Why do sites not listed in DMOZ rank so well in Google?

Not very hard if you pick a good category. I only waited 9 days to get accepted!

A little tip for you, If you business has an address take advantage of the regional categories. I have submited many of websites over the years to dmoz and when I used the regional listings I got accepted!

If the dMoz link is that important to you please use the regional category.

Like I was saying above. Do you have an address on your website?
