How hard is it to compete with wikipedia?

Very very very hard ..... they are old and authority anmd make millions ... and google loves them

 

The most interesting part of wikipedia is it allows uses to edit the content and then it is cross check by other admins. So every day wikipedia is having some new content to give. Moreover the domain age is very old and the information base is really impressive.

So in most of the cases it becomes hard to outrank wikipedia.

 

If you want to trumph Wikipedia your site must be exceptionally well optimised with the keyword appearing in in the URL, H1, H3, Image Alt Tags and where ever possible - in a non-spammy way off course. On top of that a healthy sum of backlinks with the keyword as anchor text is needed to counter the insane number of backlinks the wikipedia page might have.

It's a tall order, but nothing is impossible with a regal SEO strategy.

 

It's so hard,but you can best no doubt, when you are building quality back links with 100 tons for visitors. you must capability for that.
