I read an article in Entrepreneur magazine that talked about the ways Google looks at heading tags... and I'm wanting to clarify a couple of things... 1) Does it help to have the description meta tag match the <h1> heading tags on the website? 2) When placing an <h1> tag, does it have to be placed by itself? Or can it just be a style that is placed in a span class tag? 3) Is it right that the <h2> and <h3> tags are matched up with keywords in Google? 4) If I'm totally off-base here, can someone point me to a good reference guide on how to properly use the h1, h2 and h3 heading tags so that Google recognizes them as a way to further optimize a website? Thank you! KismetDesign
Sir, is this what your competitors are doing? Studying the exact usage and placement of heading tags? Is this how they are beating you? So the guy who is best with heading tags wins the game? Do you think Google is this simple? The article that you read was about h1 tags because the author could not think of anything better to rant on and on about. Making something spectacular out of nothing. Get your feet firmly planted on earth, get your head out of the clouds. Learn what works and what is fluff and nonsense. Bompa
No, the article was on many, many things. The use of heading tags was just one of them. And the only one I had questions on. We are doing lots & lots of other things too.
And by the way, as a newcomer to this forum, your response was less than helpful... it certainly wasn't a good welcome to want to stay and learn more from the people here. I'm looking for a community I can learn from and later contribute to. Is this a good place for that?
lol, Well here's a big HELLO Kismet! Welcome to DP!! In reply to your queries (I'm no expert btw, just going on expierence): 1. I can't say for sure - but I would use the same keywords anyway, even if it's not the exact same description. 2. I prefer placing it by itself. I have no idea if it helps or not. 3. I believe so. 4. No idea.
Well, excuuuuuusssse MEeeeee! I am so sorry that my lack of warmth hurt your feelings. I was trying to say that h1 tags are pretty much insignificant to SEO. Yes, dp is great with many expert seo's that are will to share their knowledge. welcome to dp, we all hope you stay here with us. Lets have a group hug. Bompa
