How Google Assigns Country To A Domain

    Hello,

    Can anyone tell me how Google assigns country to a DOMAIN? My blog http://www.minterest.com/ when launched was identified as a US Site but now its Identified as an INDIAN site when I dont have articles related to INDIA.. but in my personal blog I used to blog about India... but that blog is identified as US Blog.

    I am sure that they are not using the info from WhoIS.. If they are using info from WhoIs then all my sites would have been identified as INDIAN... even the web hosting for all the sites is from US....

    What's going on?

    how can you say that "google says my site is from India" ?

    probably you are hosted on indian host..

    OH BTw - thats your site ?? it was coming up everytime i was searching for YSM/MSN/adwords coupons before few days on google :D

    google targets ip based on
    host ip
    backlinks from regional domains like .in, .uk etc..
    and webmaster tools have a setting

    Did you try adding the EN-US meta tag to change this?

    :D Wherere are you from? INDIA? I started the blog by blogging free ppc coupons...


    hey I have very good ranking for Google.co.in but no use with that.. as the target of the content is US..

    Go to www.google.co.in

    and search for

    make money
    make money online
    make money blogging

    I am in Top 20 for these top keywords and many such keywords.. but I am not getting much traffic... it seems that indians are not interested in Internet Marketing at all....


    Well, I dont think that i have backlinks from .in sites.. I did some link building when i started the blog.. then i didnt do anything.. I just used do-follow blogs and submitted to directories...
