How Google AdWords "Tricked" Me, Took 9.35 $ From Me!

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by Mr.Dog, Dec 8, 2012.

Recently I got a message from Google that if I spend 50 $, I will get 200 $ worth credit afterwards.

But they didn't give me the credit, even more: they stole 9.35 $ from my account as "taxes". "Taxes" for what?

I uploaded 50 $ to my account and behold: I see 40.06 $ credit available, the rest 9.35 $ taken away as "taxes".

After having spend the 40.65 $, I didn't get anything. I suppose they wanted me to upload another amount, so that they an take "taxes" again, right?

    Any similar stories/experiences?

Are you supposed to pay taxes? Can you really see Google lying and stealing money like that? I dont think so........obviously for some reason tax must be applicable. Have you tried contacting them rather than just defaming them on here?

First of all: no-one is "defaming" anyone, I'm just telling my story. I've never seen anything like this.

The reason I created this post was to ASK if anyone else had similar issues with them. It came as a shock, since I opened this account for a client site.

    I certainly will.

I guess they are charging something like "VAT" or similar, but this way they're cutting the ROI limit.

Old radio program comes to mind.

"Who knows what lurks in the heart of Google. The Shadow knows."

What did you spend the $50 on. Adwords? Google store?

Since you did not say (exactly) what the offer was or what you bought, it is hard to say.

I would ask them for justification. Did you get the $200 credit?

Google is doing some weird things these days but I think they can not go as far to this extend, contact them and see they say before they get acussed like this.

Actually I did say that I used it for AdWords. I really like the way AdWords looks like, the account etc.

But this "taxation" shocked me. I am going to contact them, but if this is

I did get coupon reward, but "50 $ for spending 25 $." I guess this was because I first applied another coupon to my account. So technically, this shouldn't be their fault.
Before spending any money, they sent me an e-mail promising 200 $ if I spend 50, so instead of 25 $, I uploaded 50 $. They took 9.35 $ "tax", then the spent 40+ $ brought me a coupon reward of 50 $.

I'm going to work with Google to solve the issue and understand. I hope they won't "tax" me every time, because this destroys the ROI.

Think: 9.35 is 18.7 % of the 50 %. So they pulled my income with 18.7 % down.

If they apply every time an 18.7 % "tax", they will destroy the ROI.

True: they gave me 50 $ coupon reward as well, so it kind of compensates... I'm just worried about the next times...

No-one is accusing. This is a fact shown in my account. it explicitly state that sum as taxes.

I am only in this thread to ask if anyone else had this problem too? Perhaps I'm the one who doesn't know how things work... I'm not accusing anyone, just want to know how this "taxing" works...

Oddly enough, no-one here seems to have had this.

    Certainly I will contact them.

Yeah, definitely contact them, I've never heard of that.

Contrary to what a lot of the conspiracy theorists say, Google is a good company and I think does care about its advertisers.

Usually speaking to someone and trying to figure out what's going on is the most level headed approach.

You were defaming....The headline / Title reads that Google tricked you. We now know that they did nothing of the sort and nothing immoral or illegal.

Well at least this has been resolved, its not something i have ever seen before and im surprised we arent taxed in Australia with our equivalent of VAT, which is GST.

That's a bad joke, Taz! "Tricked" is nowhere like "defaming". It is my opinion. If that's what you call "defaming", you have a Stalinist mentality!

Plus: I'm entitled to my opinion and complaints. Are we living in a dictatorship?
I don't think so. Are you living in one?

I've been asking people all around and no-one I came in contact with has had anything like this charge, nor did I experience anything like it before.
I was feeling bad about it (anyone would).
"Tricked" is very softly said and harmless!

My statement reflected the shock I've seen after I couldn't see a logical and complete explanation in my account for the additional charge. You would get upset as well.

"Defaming" is mal-intended, libelous, vilification. No-way is my statement any of that!

But: you are indeed vilifying me with this false accusation! And that's exactly what is defamatory!

I did find my answer (after waiting, researching and contacting Google), which I did post here: the charge was the VAT and they charge personal accounts. If one has a company account, then they won't charge it (as I understood).

At least I got my response from them and the coupon compensated for the losses.

I think my post was useful to others, as others will learn from this. It's better to have a company account.

From my side the issue is closed and I received a satisfying answer from Google.
