    Hi Fellow DP Members,

Just wanted to get your feedback on how good Yahoo Domain services are. Anyone used them to register domains over there? If so how good is their customer service, transfer process etc.,

    Thanks In Advance

I have used them once and it is okay. For domain reg I dont think we would need any great customer support. As long as the company is reliable and they have a good control panel, it is fine with me.

Point to remember is that they offer $1.99 only for new registrations and for the new customers. The renewals and any future registration will cost more which is slightly more than what you get from godaddy. I would recommend you to regiter as much as you need in one go and then tranfer them (free) to your regular registrar. That way you can take advantage of the offer and still continue using only one regitrar for all domain names.

Thanks Alem. You mean to say the transfer process will be as smooth as that with GoDaddy or is it complicated? How good is the control panel... pls let me know your thoughts on that too...

Crap. Don't waste your time with them. I've heard a number of people had trouble transferring out & other problems as well. Stick with reputable companies like Name.com if you want cheap for $5.99

Yahoo does make it difficult to transfer domains - the reason is that they ARE NOT a domain registrar. They actually go through a company called Melbourne IT which is in Australia. I regged my first domain with Yahoo as well as the hosting for it. When I cancelled my hosting account (because it was terrible) and attempted to move the domain to GoDaddy Yahoo would not let me do it. After several phone calls they finally pointed me to Mebourne IT and I wound up having to pay $35.

To me the 1.99 wasnt worth it, but if you decide to go for it I would suggest that you transfer it to another registrar as soon as possible
