A good friend told me to participate at Yahoo Answers.

Look for questions that are related to the subject matter of your information product and respond; be sure to include a link to your home page.

Ok, that might bring some traffic but how much? How good is Yahoo Answers?

its alright but if you promote to much on there they will ban you so you really cant do enough promotion for it to pay off

The basics of the idea for incoming links is a good one. But speaking from the voice of experience, there are many trolls that make it their crusade to ban people who put links in their answers based upon it being possible spam.

The best thing is to start posting basic answers without any links to get the hang of it and see how the other links are placed in. Only place links in the source box and make sure it is very relevant to the answer itself. Also, if you do get banned it locks out that part of your Yahoo account.

Good idea, but do it carefully.

Yahoo answers good for asking any questions, give related link if it is possible but try to avoid your link to post in yahoo answers, its risky. Its depends on how you are using your link, If it is not necessaray then it is considered as SPAM.

You can ask a question with a targeted keyword with decent competition. Make a new account and answer your own question with informative information and add your website as the reference site.

Choose your answer as the best answer.
If that alone doesn't get you ranked on the top 10 start bookmarking the link.

You can pretty much win the #1 spot and drive traffic to your link for life.

Yahoo Answers , like other websites is a good way to do a few things and to get hold on few , but like every other product / service, Yahoo also has its own policies and pros and cons. so you should have a look around and get a feel of the stuff in which you are about to delve in by asking around. good thing that you participated here
    best of luck

I think its good and if you are answering questions to your target market, this can only be a good thing as long as your are not spamming.

The Y! answers are very useful, you can start answering questions, when you find a specific question on your niche, you can drop your link on it. Since yahoo answers has a NoFollow attribute, it wont get any seo benefit. But it doesnt stop people from following these links. (you get traffic)

It used to be a lot more effective than it is now because too many people have spammed the hell out of it.

I think Yahoo Answers is great, i found even on google search some Yahoo Questions & Answers, with keywords having 700-1000 searches a month - you can use it to do "boom marketing" - good traffic :)

Yahoo Answers generates a fair amount of traffic, but you need to develop quality answers. Many answers rank well in organic search results.

Do not advertise direct link to your affiliate page. Use some link clocker or domain...

The trick with Yahoo Answers, and the reason I don't use it as much anymore is because you basically should link to "Ezine Articles" or another article, or even WikiPedia that you have a link back to your site on for it to matter. post a PLR article as the answer, then link to your articles on EZA as a "middleman" and post to various article each time, and under different pen names. That might work, but I think there are better ways to promote your website to be honest.

1 AdSwap will bring in 100's of leads and takes 15 minutes. Yahoo answers might bring in 100 visitors and take 5 minutes, what would you rather spend your time on?

It's good for the initial spurt of traffic, but you won't need to know that. You'll soon stop once you see how low your referral traffic is from there.

Ehh.. it requires a lot of work to get just a very little bit of value. It's useful if you don't have any other way to generate traffic.

    it sucks

maybe at one point it was good, but now half the users on yahoo answers are promoting things.
