    Hello DP members,

Freddy Adu is playing on Benfica (my team) this year,
but he still no opportunity to play, so, and since he is
american, I would like to know how good he is...

Its not easy to be on Benfica first team since the player
on the same position of Freddy Adu is Rui Costa...

So, How good is Freddy Adu?

And do you know other good american soccer players?

    Thanks :)

Give Adu time. He certainly has talent, and will mature and develop into a more complete player as time progresses. The BWNLIGA is of a higher standard than the MLS.

Other good American Soccer Players. Good is a relative term here.

Brian McBride ( retired from international football)
    Tim Howard
Brad Friedel ( retired from international football)
    Benny Felhaiber
    Clint Dempsey
    Jonathan Spector.

He's not that good compared to the world class soccer players, but he's still young. I think he was just a case of an early developer who happened to be very good at a young age. I don't see him becoming an international superstar in the sport.

Brilliant on Football Manager Simulation games :D

Still young, will get better. Glad he went to Benfica over any EPL clubs for now.

Adjusting to the European Leagues is a big challenge even for the seasoned internationals. And Adu is just a teenager. Give him time and he'll flourish. Him and Walcott are similar players. Both need confidence, time and first team opportunities.
