Does anyone has an experience dealing with gov backlink? What sort of advantages would it bring to a site? cheers
yeah .. i have a lot . A pure .gov backlink are very cool to have . Google have great respect to this domains. .mil, .gov and .edu. In this order..
.gov links are seen as carrying more weight compared to regular domain extensions as they are deemed to have more authority. They are seen to be trusted more by search engines because of the nature of the websites themselves.
Edu & Gov backlinks are gold for SE. if you get some probably you jump several places I want to share some http://a.parsons.edu/~steel224/blog/?p=42#comment-30475 http://a.parsons.edu/~mendp530/wordpress/?attachment_id=124&cpage=18#comment-628826 http://aumobile.andersonuniversity....who-gets-custody-of-the-ivf-embryos/#comments http://dance.blogs.wesleyan.edu/2011/01/31/vincent-mantsoe/comment-page-83/#comment-102730 http://blackboard.blog.stonybrook.e...or-control-panel/comment-page-2/#comment-5125
.gov backlinks are very useful and they are considered as trusted links. It is better to have a link excahnge with them but to get it is really tough.
Links from .gov and .edu domain are considered very authoritative and trustworthy by Google. They are held in high esteem by search engines and having a lot of such links can do wonders for your PR.
Gov backlinking is new for me and after reading this thread i did not get any satisfactory answer about that. Can someone tell me briefly that what is gov backlinking?
Links from Government domains are called .gov backlinks. And maybe I am the only one here but I seriously think .edu/ .gov/ .org links, in itself, don’t carry any weight. I mean extensions don’t affect backlinking credit..They should work just as good as any other related, HQ backlink...To say that SEs favour such links - I doubt...
They count much more than "normal" link or low-PR links from new blogs, forums etc... Definitely, the more the better. You can try to get them on Fiverr, although I don't have any experience with that
I think everyone in here really needs to read up on SEO and backlinks. a .com is just the SAME as a .edu, .gov etc.. The REASON why people in general think a ,.gov is going to rank them higher is because most .edu and .gov sites rank VERY WELL so ofcourse a link is going to rank well. Okay.. lets watch everyone continue to post how great .edu and .gov links are.
I pretty much agree. I think they might be weighted slightly more but only very slightly... If any. I wouldn't go on the hunt for .gov links. If I were deciding between a .gov and .com link on a page of the same pagerank, I would base my entire decision pretty much on the quality of the pages as determined by semoz and the # of obl..... not the extension.
Exacly as you said, also a major role play the pagerank and the domain age. From my experience, new domains take abit longer to rank then an aged domain.
gov and edu backlinks are great to get , but you can not get these type of links easily, however i try to get links from .com sites almost
