I know my laptop is to blame for deteriorating eyesight... left my web developer job last year because the company went under, then got the laptop and been pretty much working on my own websites since then on it. Going to try to move back to my desktop and have the resolutions set as high as possible (whist sitting about a metre or two away), I find from experience that doing this plus looking out the window every 30 minutes gradually fixes the problem.
Another good exercise for your eyes is to find a little spot on your window, look at it for a second and then look through the window in order to focus on something far away. Repeat this a few times every day...
I don't wear glasses and used to have good vision, but I'm starting to suffer from blurry vision after being stuck at my monitor 12 hous a day and up for the last 5 years :O
Ive tried looking at the sun before i couldnt my eyes just closed straight away. How can you look at the sun through binoculars??? Id of thought you would be blinded instantly??
Everyone's vision deteriorates with age, so expect to be wearing reading glasses by the time you hit your 50s. Monitors can give you eye strain, and CRT monitors made my eyes very sore after 10-hour stints on the computer. I find LCD monitors better for me although some people complain that the image is not as sharp, and hence harder on your vision. Always take time to look at a distant point and, of course, have regular breaks.
I have been using a computer for about 7 years now and over the last 4 years I have been using it on average of about 9 - 10 hours a day mainly due to a large work schedule. I do not wear glasses at all. I have heard that you can get bad eyes using the computer, but how I see it is the computer is just the same as a TV just that you are normally sitting alot closer to the computers monitor.
no need to worry man I sit on computer for 12 hours in a day but taking breaks between hours which give rest to eyes so everything is fine with me up to now.
So far I still have a good eyesight. Because I can see her very well and still I can make 4 inches clearance from other vehicle when driving especially during rush hour
i have prob with my eyes...but im not wearing my eyeglass... aside from that, i also have astigmatism..... *shakes head* those of you who still have a good vision, youre so lucky!
i wear eyeglasses and i have a poor vision but it is not because of the computer or the monitor. even before i become addidtec to computers, i already wore eyeglasses because im fond of reading books int he dark... LOL... and reading books while the car is moving...
The longest I have sat in front of a computer will most probably be around 30 - 40 hours with hardly any breaks. I just grab a bit of food and eat it while on the computer. I don't do them long hours anymore though. I only done a few very long hours when I was first getting my sites off the ground.
Been behind a computer monitor for over 20 years... I doubt it is the cause for my need for very minor vision corrections (very low power perscription). Age and stupidity (like doing brief welding without eye protection) are more likely culprits. Now on the other hand I think my optomatrist must get a commission for everyone he drives crazy with bifocal's - reading glasses would have been a better choice than breaking my neck trying to read through the damn things, 90% of the time they stay in my laptop bag!
