Does anyone know how PDFs are dealt with by search engines? I've seen them show up in search results but I'm wondering are they indexable in the same way and can you get your PDFs to rank using the same techniques you would use for HTML pages?
So you're saying that PDF's can be indexed in the same way as web pages? How is that possible when they're not html documents? surely they don't have readable text for search engines? I've seen them rank so I know its possible, but I can't understand how SE's can read them when they're now text based documents
They are text based documents. It doesn't convert a PDF over to an image based document unless it's locked. So it can be read, including the links *cough*
