    I try it too, and I'm got banned just within 48 hrs, I upload my customer email list to FB, some customer have facebook account, you can add a friend easy, and other without FB account list, FB will ask you invite they join FB, never click yes! just skip it.

    There are many away's to get fans on facebook and freind's, for example : If i want 5k of friends i will buy a email generator or a email list and adding people to reach my goal. When i reach it I will creat a fan page and promotion my product and getting around 400 - 500 fan's in my page a day.

    best thing you can do is, give some free offers to your group members and simply ask them to suggest your group to their friends, this method works ..... don't try to get members automatically, because it might be useless and u can be banned.
