How flexible is customizing a WordPress Theme?

Is it possible to take a WP theme (in my case, a premium magazine theme) and make it look as good as a rockettheme joomla themes?

I'd like to find a WP theme to clone the layout and color of this joomla theme http://xtrememusic.net

    Is that plausible?

    Thx

You can always do that because wordpress can be very easily customised. First find the most relevant/similar wordpress theme which has the similar navigation/design then hire someone who can make the designs look similar.

I find it easy to change colors, fonts, size of sidebars, header images and size, the footer, and add on to existing options that are put in by the theme designer, like...I put an extra side bar box on one of my themes for my tool bar download.
Other than those things, I leave the rest to the professionals. I have had many occasions where I changed or moved the wrong thing around and got a blank screen, or a jumbled up blog, and had to start from scratch.

Starting with CSS changes is the easiest way to get your feet wet if you are going to do it yourself.

    Okay GREAT!

So basically find a general theme that I like. Which would be Brian Gardner's Revolution or the free theme that really rocks is, "estorage"... but the color on estorage are not appealing to me.

So basically take a free theme and hire someone to revamp it?
If I could basically clone this site using wp... http://www.guitarworld.com/, I'd be very happy :)

If it's just a matter of changing the colors, that is pretty easy to do from the CSS, as long as the theme author has them organized neatly.

Just grab an HTML color chart, and you can change every color on the blog.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, and have the means, then of course go ahead and hire someone.

You can sort of clone that site pretty easily actually. That said, I have seen better looking sites. You can make it much more organized etc.
