I have three sites that have ranked solid on google/yahoo for 6 months on page 30. About a month ago I started submitting to directories and I published a few articles. The sites are now #30-100 on both search engines, my question is, should I keep building links at the current rate (20 in the past month), or should I back off? I've heard building links too fast isnt good, so far I have only submitted to related sites/directories.
The overall objective when building links is to build them at a steady pace. 20 isn't really a big issue, but building 100,000 one month and 10 the next looks very unnatural which might throw up a red flag.
Keep developing your daily submissions it will take a good year to get well established with a respected resource
Generally, if the SEs don't rate incoming links, they merely ignore them, this appears to be quite common for new sites, however, it also appears that the older your links are , the more highly rated they are So , methinks you should be okay developing your site at your best natural speed, adding content and marketing the site by the means recommended by the SE's which is what you appear to be doing
my yahoo backlink count increases by low xxxx a week. As long as its constant and not in leaps and bounds its fine
