I've bought numerous services here from other DP members. Most of the time, I've purchased from Indians. At DP you can score article writing for $.50 - $1.00 per 100 words. Forum posts for $.10 or less. These are really great prices and it got me curious about a few things. I'd like to hear some responses from Indians. Your country is big, so answers will vary, but I'm curious about your standard of living. If you make $20 here at DP, how far does that $20 go? Does it cover your living expenses for a day? A week? A month? Here in America, $20 USD doesn't go very far. It's a tank of gas. $20 won't pay for dinner for my girlfriend and I, unless we eat somewhere cheap. $20 won't cover a single utility payment I have. Also, if you're not from India, but another economically depressed country, please feel free to add your perspective. Let us know where you're from and how far $20 goes for you when you make it here at DP.
It depends on the expense of the people. For some $20 might just go for a day for some for 2-3 days and for some it might just go for a week. $20 in India will go for a week the maximum limit( P.S: It is whole living expense). I hope all of them agree with me.
Good questions! 20 bucks go a long way over there in india, so much so, you'll get an indian to design a complete website for ridiculous $3!!! Yea!! I call it pure slavery. It surely is good for guys like you, but its hurting the industry to a great extent. People who knows what I'm talking about will agree to me, and indians wont.. but who cares Sooner or later, DP will become IDP lol
Nothing personal.... but we are not a depressed country anymore - we are developing and developing at a faster rate... Recession has not hit india badly till now and hope so that it will not Now your question::: Yes a $20 earning is enough for a day to live an average life - as per the current conversion rate it makes about Rs.1000/- so its good for a day. - One can fill a gas in his four wheeler or two wheeler - easily. - enjoys the food for 2 for one day - Could also watch a movie - and at last could also save something for next day (which indians are good at - and this is the reason - we have not hit hard by recession) Hope this helps...
Man, -Gas $32.95 -Pack of Smokes $4 -Red bull $3 -Dinner $35 -Movie for two $20+ I'm living in the wrong place....
$20 are 1,047.38 Indian Rupees. That's a lot of money in India for just one day. It means that you are making Rs 31,421.4 in a month which is very good. I am an indian but I live in NY and I know what you mean. $20 doesn't mean anything. It can't even buy me a decent looking shirt. An MTA card costs $80+ per month. In India, with $20, you can go eat outside, watch a movie, buy clothes and do other stuff as well. But nowadays, India is getting expensive as well.
Some questions don't really have any meaning here. The economic gap is just sooooo wide. You can have a dinner at a roadside stall for 0.50$ or may be for 500$ in an uptown restaurant. There are people who make hardly 25$ a month and live in miserable conditions and in the same locality you will be able to find a guy who spends 10000$ a month. So 20$ might be a cool amount for some guy and won't make a difference for the other. Really depends upon the guy and his individual economic condition
very well said aditya....it all depends on your lifestyle. but still in cities like NY, $20 are not much.
well said... but at least... with $20 - one can eat healthy - live healthy and stay happy for a day isn't it...
Though it doesn't really mean being economically depressed or sort of as the OP said. Being economically depressed would mean a lot of people struggling with their finances. So if a person makes 1000$ a month here, you might say hez a poor guy, but he isn't really economically depressed here. Some guys will call him rich. Its just that the population is so big that if the cost of living is like US, half the people will die without food. The number of millionaires here is increasing exponentially every day and so are the costs in urban areas and there are a lot of opportunities to make money. Offcourse there are dark sides and a lot of people living in extremely bad conditions.
Very interesting questions and answers. I'd love to hear from more people living in India. Here in Australia, $20 would buy you next to nothing. To visit the movies alone costs around $15.00.
I think you can get a pepe jeans for $20 = Rs 1000 [ they are offering 35% discount till march 31] For $20 I can eat lunch in a 3star hotel along with one of my friends. or I can go and watch a movie and still come back with some bucks left in my pocket. So if a person is earning $20 per day, he can live a very comfortable life unless he has a habit to spend too lavishly
Save for the rainy day is the first thing that any child would learn for their elders in India. A thought full home maker from a lower income family will plan her days expense and also try to save for the rainy day ahead. For an average life style 20$ goes along way.
