It all depends on what type of website you have. I have a freebie/coupons site that gets good traffic from offline advertising, i use bulletin boards in stores, car logo advertising bumper stickers etc..

I am assuming the cost on those have been nominal? Not an insult if it works who cares what it costs. Do you spend any money on offline advertising?

I don't do offline advertising. But it's effective. A friend of mine use offline marketing for generating revenue. His site can be classified under 'online services' category. Like any advertising method, offline advertising also depends on budget, market size, type of industry and strategy.

If you count my freelance service as an online product then I have to say I got all clients from offline marketing.

offline advertisement costs more then internet ads, right now web marketing is taking the huge chunk out of sales amount and revenue it's delivering. there is no need to do offline advertising unless your company gone segnifaclly huge.

The only problem with offline advertising is you don't know whether it's working unless you ask. You can't just track where they came from like internet advertising.

So if you can easily measure offline marketing you would use it more often?

Measuring your marketing efforts is number one.If you can not measure it then stop doing it.

Although I do not do offline advertising, it is VERY effective. Just from experience...I trust someone more if they advertise offline too than just online. I don't know why but that's how it is.

I want to hear about some more ideas for offline advertising too!

Some ideas off the top of my head:
    1) Put some ads on lamp poles.

    2) Drop them in your neighbor's mailboxes.. they don't have to know it's you ;)

    3) Put them under the windshield wipers at the parking lot... it's annoying, but what the heck.

    4) Insert some inside newspapers at a convenience store.

    5) Tape them on the trashcans at a public place.

I would have to agree, I never think about it, a company is advertising ooh Out of Home I tend to see them more , maybe with online I am trained to see everything as spam first.

Offline advertising can still do wonders for your business and open doors of opportunities. All you have to do is to choose the most appropriate advertising medium for communicating your messages. Plus, mixing online with offline advertising allows you to reach out to a wider target audience.

I don't think offline advertising for online business will really work because with same ideas and effort you can work more on your seat in online with your mind work which will really work and rock the online business:):)

    Thanks "FrqHuss"

depends on how offline is defined but I expect to get most of my clients by word of mouth and direct contact such as conferences, references, phone, email, pm, etc... not so much from the website itself.
