How effective are Articles in improving PR?

    Hi

I would like to get an answer from somebody who is experienced in SEO about the effect that good quality articles can have on the Page Rank of a website. Is article submission worth all the effort or not? How does google rate articles in terms of importance?

    Thanks

Articles are definitely one of the best way to gain PR.
In fact, it's quite easy to reach PR 3-4 just thru
    article submission.

IMO on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best article submissions are a 1.

Article submissions are more abut generating traffic than increasing PR. Articles on article directories will usually be put into the supplemental results so it is not very likely that you will see a PR increase as a result of submitting articles.

This method of promotion can still be very worthwhile. If you write good quality articles you can see a lot of traffic from them.

I've considered submitting some of my articles but I'd be worried about duplicate content since they are already displayed on my web site :/

You are right not to want to do that. Unique content is one of your site's most valuable assets.

everytime after finishing an article, i reorgnization it and then post them to article directorys~

i think i should keep the article in my site is unique, but I'm wondering those reorgnizated articles for submitting, worried about duplicae content too, cos i use article submitting robot to hundreds of directorys,

Yes, the articles that are submitted to the directories will be recoginized as duplicate content. I used to submit my articles to as many directories as possible, but lately I have been doing this a little differently. I, like everyone else, always study my web stats and have seen that there are only a couple article directories that actually send me any real traffic. So, I submit my articles to only 1 directory and sometimes submit them to a couple others a few weeks later.

articles can help with PR - but more importantly - if you write something useful and it gets picked up - then it can help by having your sites put in front of hundreds or thousands of eye balls.

Remember - submit some of your articles - but not all. Always keep some only on your site - so you are using the rest as teasers to get people to your site. Also remember that although you may submit it today - it might take a while for it to become popular.

For example - My friend wrote a review of "the fray album to save a life" in dec 2005. It got 0 hits. Till about 6 months ago - when the fray became popular. That article has now had over 2200 hits and all from SERP. becuase the article was ranked under the term "the fray album review" or something like that.

I use them, but the only problem i face is the long approval periods

Like somebody said, use your time and energy to submit only to the best ones and you can skip most of the rest
