Lots and lots (and lots) of ads. They're owned by Google by the way if you didn't know, so ya, their money comes from ads.
It really doesn't make that much, there are some google adsense ads on featured videos but mostly so far its been ad free
They don't. They're losing money. The days of internet TV hasn't arrived yet. Maybe in 3-4 years they'll be THE video platform of the web, then they'll see the bucks come in. They might lose several million a year, = 1.5 billion to buy youtube... But in decade they'll be making billions a year. Just watch
I disagree the days of internet tv is here now, google is just having a hard time monetizing the site.
you tube makes money, but not allot of it. It is still hemorrhaging dollars and YT is still looking for a profitable ad platform.
Wonder how much these companies are paying to advertise on Youtube. Wonder how much youtube is paying for bandwidth usage.
there has to be another way to monetize youtube than the banner ads where you try to hit the monkey with a hammer to win an iPod.
