How does wordtracker and other keyword research work ?

How is wordtracker able to estimate searches online? I've read around that wordtracker estimates google search but I can't understand how, they are not able to access google databases are they?

wordtracker is good if you have a paid version. free one is pretty much useless in my opinion

 

I'd say you try Google Adwords to search for keywords. The free version of Wordtracker isn't really helpful.

It's a bold claim from Wordtracker but I think we all know, they don't have direct access to Google.

I'am using free wordtracker for a long time now. I guess that there is no difference between paid and free version. Free one sometime wants to eat a captcha
