How exactly does it work. I see lots of keyword stuff around here but I have no idea about Search Engine Optimization. Do you insert keywords into the coding (saw something about that). I understand the backlinks, makes sense. But have no clue about keywords. How would my site come up if someone types BlackBerry Vids into the search?
"But have no clue about keywords. " It is really simple select the right keyword for your business/site theme.
It's about making sure that search engines know what your site is about. If the phrase 'Blackberry vids' never appears in relation to your site, how can a search engine know that it's relevant to a search for that? So make sure the phrase is prominently placed on the appropriate page of your site, in the page titles, and in headings. Also that it appears in the text - but don't overdo it, that's keyword stuffing. Then backlinks - you want to get your chosen keyword as the anchor text as your backlinks - but again, don't overdo it, your backlink strategy should look natural - use synonyms of your keyword sometimes
you can add meta tag programatically there is no problem in it. lots of cms does that. In asp.net you can easily add meta tag in header. I have many sites where I have done it. This meta tags tell search engine about what the page is all about?. By interpreting meta tag search engine characterize the site and index it in its database.
Google doesn't recognise the keyword metatag. Other more minor search engines do, so it's worth adding a couple of keywords in a metatag as it's no effort - but as Google is the most used search engine, it's the least important factor in seo.
Your site could come up for Blackberry Vids if 1.) It has that keyword in its name 2.) It has the keyword somewhere on the page 3.) It has links with Blackberry Vids as your anchor.
