2670 links in Google would be my guess.

Where are the links coming from? How did you know this?

Use "Link:domain.com" as a search in Google. This will list all of the sites linking to domain.com. At least those that Google is willing to admit to. For a longer list, do the same search in Yahoo.

I only found 92 links back, where did you find the other 2000+?

Google is being Google. It's now only showing 35 on google.com and 821 on google.co.uk and google.ca.

Which is why everybody uses Yahoo for backlink checking :)

900 000 results means the keyphrases aren't so competitive ....
